mfbarnes52 Posted September 3, 2011 Report Posted September 3, 2011 Well the bears played a pretty good away game against a nearby 5A Lion squad. Tevin House ended up with 291 yards and three TD's, and the Bears had 558 yards of total offense, holding the Lions to 324 yards of total offense. Really wasn't as close as it looked, the Bears rand the twos starting halfway thru the 3rd quarter, and all of the 4th. Over all it was a good win. But there is still work to do before we take on the rest of the District 17-4A. O-line was much improved this week, we had some issues holding on to the ball, four fumble could have very well ended up TD's. -MFB
Guest Cap Rock Brewing Co. Posted September 3, 2011 Report Posted September 3, 2011 People may disagree with me but I think the new QB Taliferro (sp?) is an upgrade and makes Montgomery even harder to stop. He looked like a better athlete than Boling and is very accurate. And they didn't lose much in the RB dept.
mfbarnes52 Posted September 3, 2011 Author Report Posted September 3, 2011 Tye is much more mobile and is a pure run and gun QB. Tyler (Bolifing) is a great touch passer and much more of a threat on the deep ball. Tyler lacked the mobility, but made up for it with his quick reads and quick release. As far as comparing Leroy (Dobbins) to Tevin (House) apples and oranges in a way. Tevin is a straight ahead runner, and takes more punishment, Leroy has such great vison and the ability to turn cut and slash. But you are correct, not a big loss between the two. Leroy had a much better O-line than Tevin has been dealt, but they are coming around. The test is coming down the road in the 17-4A, lots of great defense in there and some pretty darn good offenses as well. Our Defense is really turning the corner, the LB's are sticking the runner and making good reads (even with Henderson Watkins out with an injury), when Hendu comes back in another week, the middle will be the OK Corral; however they have yet to see a really good play-action offense, soon to change. We have solid shut down corners, and Tevins brother Herbert House, will lay the wood to anyone coming over the middle, from his strong safety position. So we will have to see how we shape up in the coming weeks, but thus far it's looking pretty good.
