How are defensive players of the week chosen? i know Daniel Messina (DB) for Kelly had 2 interceptions, one being in the endzone to seal the win for kelly with 50 seconds left. Also, Brandtley Wilson (LB) had 26 tackles and a forced fumble. Not knocking the kid from Vidor, just wondering

That's what he was credited with on the tackle chart. He was all over the field.

Well, that is the problem.  I don't have access to the tackle chart.

What we do is after Friday's games, the staff makes nominations based upon stats, observations and yes, reports from fans (that is how we knew about Justin Twine, this weeks offensive player of the game).  But if it is not reported in the media, by you or observed by us. It might go unnoticed.  So be sure to post about extraordinary efforts...especially on the defensive side.

I was at the game where Twine played and he went OFF! Deserving of this award. If he had hadn't had two runs called back for holding penalties (each were at least 40 yards and were TD's) he would have not only broke but shattered Kenneth Hall's 587 yard single game record. If those scores had counted, the single game scoring rcord would have been in jeopardy too. I know I am singing his praises but I am from West Sabine not Hemphill :):):)!
Best performance by an athlete high school, college, or pro that I have ever seen. Honored to have been a small part of history.
