It may not be as common as this area, but there are many athletes who begin to focus only on one sport once they get into high school. I know one particular kid out of the Houston area who was being recruited by a Big 12 school. Had a major knee injury coming into his senior year. I think he missed all of the football season and eventually went to JUCO.

Don't get me wrong I like football....BUT....I LOVE basketball.

Nederland will have a young team for sure. Having it taken away due to injury is an indescribable disappointment I'm sure.

I think his parents use to live in Nederland too? Maybe someone can verify that? He will be a Senior this year. Haven't seen him play, but I hear he played well in summer ball.
