Beaumont, TX (November 20, 2006) The Texas Wildcatters enter the week with a 7-2-2-0 record after taking three out of a possible four points in a two game series vs. the Augusta Lynx at home. The ‘Catters are currently in fourth place in the American Conference’s South Division with 16 points, but have played two less games than first place Florida. Kevin Baker leads the Wildcatters with 12 goals and 19 points and also leads the ECHL in goals and in power play goals with 9. He has scored at least one point in every Wildcatters game this season. J.F. David leads all defensemen with 16 points (2 goals and 14 assists).

Wednesday, November 22 and Saturday, November 25 at South Carolina 6:05 p.m. CT

The Wildcatters head back out on the road as they begin a 13 day, seven game trip at South Carolina against the Stingrays. It will be the first meeting between the ‘Catters and Stingrays this season and the two teams will meet a total of seven times this year. South Carolina is led by Chris Chaput who is the Stingrays top scorer with 16 points. Former Wildcatter Davis Parley is the starting goaltender and has a 7-4-1 record with a 3.47 GAA.

Friday, November 24 at Columbia 6:05 p.m. CT Carolina Coliseum

The Wildcatters continue their road trip with a Friday night game against the Inferno. The ‘Catters defeated Columbia on November 3 by a score of 5-2. Anthony Battaglia leads the Inferno with 14 points.

Sunday, November 26 at Augusta 3:05 p.m. CT James Brown Arena

Texas finishes the first leg of the seven game road trip with a Sunday matinee at Augusta against the Lynx. The Wildcatters went 1-0-1-0 against Augusta in the two homes games this past weekend. Jamie Johnson, J.B. Bittner and Ryan Lang are three of the top scorers in the ECHL.

Friday, November 17 vs. Augusta 6-5 Loss OT

The Texas Wildcatters rallied again in the third period to force overtime and earn a point, but fell in the extra frame by a score of 6 to 5 to the Augusta Lynx at Ford Arena. Marco Rosa scored two goals for the second time in as many games, but Augusta’s Louis Goulet stole the show, scoring four times including the game winner in overtime. The Wildcatters came out strong scoring twice in the opening frame on goals from Rosa and Baker, but the Lynx tied it late in the period with two goals in a span of 21 seconds. Goulet would score all three Augusta goals in the second period for the hat trick. Bayrack and Proulx netted goals in the period and going into the third, the ‘Catters trailed by one. Rosa tied things up shorthanded just 45 seconds into the period, but Goulet’s overtime winner at 3:43 ended the ‘Catters comeback. Matt Yeats made eight saves to help the Wildcatters force overtime in relief of starting goaltender Miroslav Kopriva who gave up five goals on 28 Augusta shots.

Saturday, November 18 vs. Augusta 7-4 Win

The Texas Wildcatters scored a season high 7 goals on 60 shots to defeat the Augusta Lynx by a score of 7 to 4. Seven different players found the net as the ‘Catters scored five goals on the power play. Paul Albers opened the scoring in the first period with a shot from the left point for his third goal of the season. Augusta would quickly tie the score, but Mark Rooneem gave the ‘Catters the lead back with his fourth of the year. J.F. David would follow with his second of the season as he continues to lead ECHL defensemen in scoring with 16 points. Marco Rosa would add his eighth of the year. Augusta pulled starting goaltender Dave McKee, replacing him with Brett Jaeger, but Kevin Baker continued the onslaught with his league leading 12th goal. It also was his league leading ninth goal on the power play. Olivier Proulx and Brandin Cote rounded out the scoring in the third period en route to the ‘Catters 7 to 4 win. Texas finished the game going 5 for 11 on the power play. Matt Yeats made 23 saves including a save on a penalty shot off the stick of Augusta’s Joe Cardarelli in the third period. The Wildcatters are now 4-0-1-0 at home.

Food Drive: A Huge Success

The Texas Wildcatters Hockey Team is proud to announce that over 3,000 canned goods were donated to the Southeast Texas Food Bank to help the less fortunate during the holiday season. The Wildcatters worked together with Southeast Texas Ford Dealers last week as fans brought canned goods to the Wildcatters office and Ford Park before last weekend’s home games.

Girl Scouts Learn Game of Hockey

The Texas Wildcatters Hockey Team hosted a Gulf Credit Union street hockey clinic for the Girl Scouts of San Jacinto Council yesterday from 2 to 4 p.m. at Ford Arena. 90 girls attended and Wildcatters players Keith MCWilliams, Paul Albers, Steve Mullin, Mike Madill, Jason Beeman and Riley Emmerson were in attendance to teach the girl scouts from Orange and Jefferson counties the game of hockey.

Wildcatters in the Community

While the ‘Catters are on the road, Gusher will visit the Montagne Center on Wednesday night for Lamar Mascot Night. The Lamar Basketball Team hosts New Orleans. Game time is at 7:05 p.m.
