AshlyHasBeen Posted September 25, 2011 Report Posted September 25, 2011 When I left they were down 20-2 in the 2nd. Haven't got a score called in. Anyone hear anything?

AshlyHasBeen Posted September 25, 2011 Author Report Posted September 25, 2011 Baytown Christian was leading Orange Community in the 2nd 20-2 when I left and they haven't called in their score.
irishpirate Posted September 25, 2011 Report Posted September 25, 2011 According to Maxpreps, it was 54 - 9 Baytown Christian.
AshlyHasBeen Posted September 25, 2011 Author Report Posted September 25, 2011 Thanks I was just texted the same thing.
bigred360 Posted September 25, 2011 Report Posted September 25, 2011 Now, it's time for our home opener versus Chester. They will be very difficult to beat for a first year TAPPS program.
WOSgrad Posted September 25, 2011 Report Posted September 25, 2011 Yes, and remember that game will be on television next Saturday afternoon
bigred360 Posted September 26, 2011 Report Posted September 26, 2011 I heard it was going to be on channel 6. Please be patient with CCS as they are a first year TAPPS Division I team. They just got hammered by a TAPPS Division 3 team. Now, they are playing Chester and they are really pretty good. CCS is well coached and they have some athletes but being a first year program they often line up in the wrong position and don't make proper adjustments.Give the Lions 2-3 years and then re-evaluate them. Please don't judge by what you see Saturday. Go Lions.

But there are some guys that they will really impressed with just like I was when I saw them against Texas Christian. Guys like C.J. Wagner and Alex Parrish who are complete hosses and would be getting playing time if they were Mustangs or Bears.
bigred360 Posted September 26, 2011 Report Posted September 26, 2011 Thanks for the comment WOSgrad. I support all the teams in Orange; CCS, WO-S and LC-M.
DP#1FAN Posted September 26, 2011 Report Posted September 26, 2011 I agree with that. Those 2 men can play on any school around both are Jr.s this year. They could also play on the basketball court also.
kicker Posted September 26, 2011 Report Posted September 26, 2011 I honestly didnt think they were going to be in this situation at all. To be 2-1 and only have about 12 players? That aint bad. I do know that the whole Orange area is excited about CCS and I hope they have stands because there will be ALOT of people at that next game. Go Lions!
DP#1FAN Posted September 26, 2011 Report Posted September 26, 2011 They do but bring some chairs. The area is all concrete where you will set up your chairs. Oh, tailgating starts at 3:30. I know they will be selling gumbo at game. I will be looking for all SETXsports members. Wear your SETXsports shirts.[move]GO Lions !!!!!!! from Coach Rick[/move]
bigred360 Posted September 26, 2011 Report Posted September 26, 2011 Dang, I wish I wasn't working. Maybe they'll cancel me. :)
Chester86 Posted September 27, 2011 Report Posted September 27, 2011 I am really looking forward to it. Everyone is talking about giving CCS some time, but remember, this is only Chester's second year playing 6-man. Being one of the smallest 1-A schools in the state, we are well aware of the importance of staying healthy and depending on each other. Chester currently has 10 young men on the team, and that just doesn't give you much room if the injury-bug comes a knockin'. Best of luck to both team, and should be a great game. I'm thinking about tail-gating before the game, so if you see someone with a very faded purple high school jersey, stop by and say hi.[move]Go 'Jackets!![/move]
bigsoftballfan Posted September 27, 2011 Report Posted September 27, 2011 I have never watched 6man football. How big is the field? Good luck to both teams.

The field is 80 yards from goal line to goal line and 40 yards from sideline to sideline. This is in contrast to the 100 x 53 1/3 yd 11 man field.2. 6 man quarters are only 10 minutes long.3. All receivers all eligible, although a pass to the center must go at least one yard in the air.4. 6 man requires 15 yds for a 1st down, not 10.5. No quarterback keepers. The ball must be "exchanged" in the form of handoff, pitch, pass (either past or behind the line of scrimmage) or a kick.6. On point after attempts, a kick is worth 2 points and a run/pass is worth 1.7. A field goal is worth 4 points.8. An onside kick must travel 15, not 10 yards.9. 6 man does have a mercy rule. If any team is up by 45 points after halfime, then the game is over.

AshlyHasBeen Posted September 28, 2011 Author Report Posted September 28, 2011 Also be ready for a lot of water breaks and if a player goes down for any reason all players are sent to a knee right away. The flow of the game is much different than 11 man.
bigred360 Posted September 30, 2011 Report Posted September 30, 2011 Just a reminder, there is a small section of bleachers so to be safe bring your lawn chairs. Also, the game could be pretty long if it is high scoring so bring something to drink and they are suppost to be selling refreshments at the game. Then I heard a couple guys will be tailgating so there may be some good food for those early to the game. Thanks to WOSgrad for posting all the differences between 11 man and 6 man football. Hope I can make it if the don't need me tomorrow at work. CCS is working to the last minute as the are putting the final touches on the scoreboard which will probably be lit up pretty often.
