SETX Coaching Salaries

Has there been recent conversation on coaching salaries in Southeast Texas? Who are the highest paid? Who offers more to assistants? I assume this info is in a public record somewhere, so why not compile it? Also, any juicy rumors of coaches getting more than we're told? I believe this thread has real potential if it doesn't already exist.

If nothing else post what you've heard about the pay scale at local schools.

Coach Barbay really cleans up,his salary is mostly based on performance by his team, he gets 100 dollars per yard gained,50 dollars per TD,25 dollars per tackle, 10 dollars per interception, half the take from the concession stand and the gate, stock options and mutual funds, all which he gladly donates to the " I got that ass spanked by Coldspring relief fund" but he does have a lifetime job and the fan appreciation from most of San Jacinto County.

Heard from someone that should know that Bob Jones at Shepherd was making 85K...Sounded really high to me but they seemed sure about the figure...

Also heard Barbay at Coldspring is in the 60's but I don't know it to be the case for sure, however, it wouldn't surprise me since pretty much everyone at COCISD seems to be underpaid all the way up to the superintendent, who a few months ago declined a scheduled raise from the school board, and makes about 20K less a year than fellow 3A superintendents with similar school numbers student body wise...

Not every coach is worried about how much they make but on the same hand I'm sure they like to feel appreciated and rewarded for a job well done and usually the best way to show them is to stay out of their way (when warranted) and compensate them well...

I think Neumann is around 90k but he was making a lot less before being considered at La Marque a few years ago. I don't know Faircloth's but I'm sure its higher. I think I remember Daytons coach over 100k.

Faircloth started at $82K on his original 2 year deal. He does not make near what Neuman makes yet. At the time of the LaMarque proposal he (Neuman) was at 90K and the LM job offer was at 103K from what I recall, so I would bet he is close to 100K if not right at it. Allman at Westlake got $125K to leave Permian (his alma mater)!

I know all three BISD coaches make the same, in the 75K - 80K range. This could be a problem if Stump gets an offer he cant refuse, since a 20K raise would cost 60K to the BISD the way they scale. Not sure anyone would be real happy giving Washington and Nelson an extra 20K to keep Stump?

I don't have the exact figure in front of me but Neumann was at about 75k before the La Marque offer.. I don't think he ever really wanted to leave but used that offer as leverage. Don't blame him..

    • I don’t know about any rivalry there because I don’t live there but although LP and DP play in different classifications they still have a lot in common.  I mean, both beat Barber’s Hill this year!
    • I’m super excited for this game.  PNG has the team and game plan that will slow TH down.  No way we can stop them the entire game, but I feel if we slow them down we can win similar to what we did last year to Lake Creek and SOC.
    • Well Mustang fans it's time for my annual end of season rant. I've had so much company up here on the soapbox that I may have to start charging rent. After 3 years I don't think anything needs to be said. We all know what's wrong. We all know why. So what's the decision at the next board meeting? IMO, there's been enough imaginary success for the board to rubber stamp the Superintendent's vision for our future student athletes. #make every second count Due to soft scheduling and a weaker than normal district. The luck of knocking off 2 ranked opponents early when they were not healthy or still trying to figure it out. Also led to a premature ranking and a hollow DCTF weekly award. The 2 late season losses vs ranked teams proves what we know has been the biggest problem.  Football 19-15 .559 Baseball 9-35 .205 Basketball 19-35 .352 GBB 11-29 .275 Softball 1-22 .043 Volleyball 0-38 .000 Overall 59-174 .253   For anyone living in the district, I ask that you contact you're elected board members publicly and privately. Don't let them think this is exceptable. Be the solution to the equation. Not the divisor. This starts at the top and falls heavily upon those walking the halls. They deserve better.
    • I don't think it's 6-5 maybe 4-3
    • Sounds like a good idea, and something’s been needed for a long time. I know—where my kids & grandkids live now (DFW area)—schools are like revolving doors for athletic purposes. I don’t think the DPISD & LPISD option enrollment are anywhere like that. I assume it’s pretty above board since it was an arrangement apparently agreed to also by the state. I do know some kids that went to LPISD elementary schools in DP chose to go to DPHS because of the district rating. (Of course, at the time, DPISD and DP in general wasn’t very racially mixed like La Porte.) LPISD has a high number of kids on assistance programs compared to DP. Say what you will, it does make it more difficult for educational purposes and scores can reflect as much. LPISD is still rated high even with that challenge. Some of the kids that chose DPHS were very solid athletes that I’m sure LP would love to have had attend LPHS. Of course, part of the big rivalry between DP & LP has always been because DP ‘looked down’ on LP even though we worked side-by-side. Now that Shell DP refinery has been sold to PEMEX, DP is changing. Some aren’t happy about it. Some of us in LP are kinda tickled about it after the history.
