Nov. 21, 2006 FRISCO, Texas - Lamar's James Davis averaged 21.7 points and 8.3 rebounds last week and was named to the Shelby Metcalf Classic all-tournament team. For his efforts, he has been named the Aeropostale Men's Basketball Player of the Week in the Southland Conference. Following is a look at his performances for the week. Tech (W, 71-68) - 13-18 FG, 9-10 FT, 35 Pts, 7 Reb., 2 ast, 1 Blk 3-Game Stats: 22-50 FG, 21-32 FT, 21.7 ppg, 8.3 rpg, 7 ast, 3 blk, 1 stl Davis averaged 21.7 points and 8.3 rebounds per game in helping Lamar post a 1-2 record at the Shelby Metcalf Classic hosted by No. 12-ranked Texas A&M. He shot 44 percent (22-50) from the field and 65.6 percent (21-32) from the free throw line. Davis had 14 points and six rebounds in Lamar's loss at Texas A&M. He recorded his first double-double of the season with 16 points and 12 rebounds vs. Saint Louis. He scored a season-high 35 points and grabbed seven rebounds in Lamar's win over Louisiana Tech. His 35 points set a new Reed Arena record, surpassing the old mark of 34 shared by Bernard King of Texas A&M and Eddie House of Arizona State. He was named to the all-tournament team.
