Nederland doesn't have to "stop" Livingston, just like they didn't have to "stop" Jayce Nelson last week...they have to control them enough to stay in the game...Nederland's track record in tight games is pretty good...no doubt, Livingston is going to be very tough...heck, I picked them to win district at the beginning of this season and they have done nothing to change that opinion...they are very good and I expect one of the best games of the year...keep in mind that this will also be Livingston's toughest test to date...every team they have played so far this season currently has a losing record...again, doesn't mean Livingston isn't any good, because they certainly are, but this will be their toughest test to date
These kind of games bring out the best in the best. I'm looking forward to this game to measure our team, since we have not played anyone!! Me myself, I just love great football.

Well I dont know if y'all are seeing what I'm seeing, but Nederland has some BIG MONSTERS on the defensive line. I dont know if PNG's offensive line is that bad but if they are, PNG's QB wont last the rest of the season. This is probably the best and biggest Defensive line Livingston has seen all year. And I'm impressed with Troy Benjamin. He finally ran over some dudes, and finally busted a big run last week. This is gonna be a fun game to watch. I'll say 38-17 Nederland. Go Dogs!

Should be a real good match up Bulldogs defense against Lions Offense, but come game time the Bulldogs will have something the Lions don't, about 9000 screeming delierous fans that will make it real hard for the Lions to hear.  They did'nt get the full benefit of the PN G fans cause the visitors stands in Livingston are so small.  Bulldogs win it..no score prediction just know that the dogs will win.

Maybe 9 screaming fans.. the rest just sit there like its a funeral.. of course I am being a little exaggerated but thats what it feels like. I hate having to yell at fans to get on their feet to make some noise. makes me feel like im a lunatic..
Dog27 I know your feelings I scream my dang head off and ppl look at me like I'm crazy!!!. I gave up my season tickets because of that so now i sent in Geberam Admission and raise all the hell I want and if someone dont like my attitude I tell them to go sit somewhere else. I dont have a son on the field but you cant tell that...I have a Westernaire who screams just as loud and proud as I do.
Why do you feel that you must yell at people to get on thier feet and scream when they paid the same ticket price you did? Maybe they just enjoy watching the game and letting the cheerleaders lead the cheers.  Should be a great game!

Then they can stay at home and watch the replay on tv. We are there for the players, not for ourselves. As a former player, believe me, it makes a difference when your fans are loud. Our cheerleaders don't know when to cheer. There are a few of us in the stands that start the DEFENSE chant on third or fourth down and the cheerleaders join in after we start it. Also, they seem to always want to do cheers while we are on offense. Especially the two bits-four bits. That's the worse time for us to cheer. Not their faults, I don't expect them to know everything about football.  But that's why the few of us in the stands start getting loud at certain points of the game... We are there for the football team. Not to watch halftime or anything else.. I'm sure some will take that the wrong way but I'm not going to explain what I mean. If you don't get the point then that's your issue. Way off topic so let me get it back on track. Our receivers are going to need to step up big this week. I would like to see Kimler more invovled. Kids an athlete...
Ok godog27 you have rattled my cage and I was behind you till you said we are there for the football game and not the half time show. I have a Westernaire who bust her rear end everyday getting ready for the half time show. I would bet she knows more about whats going on during the game than half the stands. So DONT DISS THE HALF TIME. Take out all the kids and their supporters there to support the dogs that perform half time out of the stadium and you dont have the stands close to full. Yes I do agree I played at PNG and the crowd does get the team fired up but, silence the band, drill team, twirlers, cheer leaders, and flags and see how quiet the stands will be.

I agree if you dont like the noise - stay at home and listen to it on the radio.  I would like to say that as a recent NEW "Bringing Back the Pride" Athletic Booster Club Member - that is just what they - we are trying to do. Kudos to the guys that set up the trailer at PNG - Thank you PNG - I think that was awesome and we are just doing that bringing back the pride - The kids need it!!!! The only people that can do it are in the stands. So support the Boosters we have several list to help ALL the sports teams at Nederland - its just not football - just wait you will see us at all the events.  We will see you all at the game on Friday night with the thunder stix and more horns - Kudos to the team for last Friday's win - we are behind you and will support you - good luck the Friday Night - GO DOGS. i yelled that lol

Seen 'em both. Livingstons offense is just as good as last year, the difference is the Lion defense is much better than 2010. For that matter the Nederland D is better than last years, but the Offense is not.
I see Nederland slowing Liv down, but I don't see Nederland scoring much.
End of 1 (7-7)
End of 2 (7-10 Dogs)
End of 3 (14-13 Lions)
Final (27-13 Lions)

My intention was not to diminish the efforts of the other groups involved. It was directed at the band parents, etc. who leave after halftime regardless of the score.  They also cheer so loud at halftime but are dead silent the rest of the game. That was my point. Only saying that without the football team there would be no halftime show for their children to perform. I know the other groups put in a lot of hard work to put on a good show. I just hate the parents who don't root for the team and only care about halftime...

There ya go. I mean at the PNG game, we didnt hardly make as much noise as we use to. Like I said before, Bulldog stadium USE TO BE one of the most feared places to play on Friday nights. Not anymore.

I wouldn't get too excited about Ned's D. They could be missing as many as 5. Good Luck to both teams.

    • I’m super excited for this game.  PNG has the team and game plan that will slow TH down.  No way we can stop them the entire game, but I feel if we slow them down we can win similar to what we did last year to Lake Creek and SOC.
    • Well Mustang fans it's time for my annual end of season rant. I've had so much company up here on the soapbox that I may have to start charging rent. After 3 years I don't think anything needs to be said. We all know what's wrong. We all know why. So what's the decision at the next board meeting? IMO, there's been enough imaginary success for the board to rubber stamp the Superintendent's vision for our future student athletes. #make every second count Due to soft scheduling and a weaker than normal district. The luck of knocking off 2 ranked opponents early when they were not healthy or still trying to figure it out. Also led to a premature ranking and a hollow DCTF weekly award. The 2 late season losses vs ranked teams proves what we know has been the biggest problem.  Football 19-15 .559 Baseball 9-35 .205 Basketball 19-35 .352 GBB 11-29 .275 Softball 1-22 .043 Volleyball 0-38 .000 Overall 59-174 .253   For anyone living in the district, I ask that you contact you're elected board members publicly and privately. Don't let them think this is exceptable. Be the solution to the equation. Not the divisor. This starts at the top and falls heavily upon those walking the halls. They deserve better.
    • I don't think it's 6-5 maybe 4-3
    • Sounds like a good idea, and something’s been needed for a long time. I know—where my kids & grandkids live now (DFW area)—schools are like revolving doors for athletic purposes. I don’t think the DPISD & LPISD option enrollment are anywhere like that. I assume it’s pretty above board since it was an arrangement apparently agreed to also by the state. I do know some kids that went to LPISD elementary schools in DP chose to go to DPHS because of the district rating. (Of course, at the time, DPISD and DP in general wasn’t very racially mixed like La Porte.) LPISD has a high number of kids on assistance programs compared to DP. Say what you will, it does make it more difficult for educational purposes and scores can reflect as much. LPISD is still rated high even with that challenge. Some of the kids that chose DPHS were very solid athletes that I’m sure LP would love to have had attend LPHS. Of course, part of the big rivalry between DP & LP has always been because DP ‘looked down’ on LP even though we worked side-by-side. Now that Shell DP refinery has been sold to PEMEX, DP is changing. Some aren’t happy about it. Some of us in LP are kinda tickled about it after the history.
