PA4Life Posted October 5, 2011 Report Posted October 5, 2011 This has been a possibility for the past few realignments in the Houston Area.

AggiesAreWe Posted October 5, 2011 Report Posted October 5, 2011 Well let's see....District 21-4A enrollmentHouston Austin 1,904Houston Reagan 1,842Houston Waltrip 1,789Houston Davis 1,563Houston Sharpstown 1,239Houston Yates 1,209Houston Sterling 1,10322-4A enrollmentHouston Wheatley 1,101Houston Worthing 1,013Houston Washington 946Houston Furr 865Houston Scarborough 733Houston Jones 686Houston Kashmere 596Last re-alignment 3A numbers were 425-990This re-alignment projected 3A numbers are 440-999.Now unless Yates has lost over 200 students, they will stay 4A. The others that already have 3A numbers, have been playing those numbers for several years, but opted to stay in 4A.
stevenash Posted October 5, 2011 Report Posted October 5, 2011 I am hearing that they want to stay 4-a due to travel costs
BLUEDOVE3 Posted October 5, 2011 Author Report Posted October 5, 2011 Me hear JY needs to boost enrollment by 50 students by Oct to remain 4-A 8) Not really hard to imagine JY losing 200 students ;) Ah, the possibilities of a shake up in 3-A is looming ;D No more bragging from certain circles ;D

They have too many basketball players moving in.

Even if it were true that JY needs 50 (that would mean they have lost nearly 300 ::)) I still believe they will still opt to stay 4A. There is no other local 3A district that they could play in. Of course unless those other 5 schools decided to go where their enrollments put them.I think Greg Wise ego would get in the way of JY going down to 3A. ;)
no-look Posted October 6, 2011 Report Posted October 6, 2011 Huntington is a 3A with about 550 or so......That also includes Pride school which is not elgible to play sports.....there has been a couple times that they could have dropped down if it weren't for Pride.......
Lazeek Posted October 6, 2011 Report Posted October 6, 2011 One thing is for sure........as long as HJ and Silsbee are 3A then HF has no chance!!!!! ;) ;) ;)

BLUEDOVE3 Posted October 7, 2011 Author Report Posted October 7, 2011 Here is a proposal I'm hearing: Furr, Jones, Kashmere, Scarborough, Washington, Worthing, and Yates would form a 3A district. Any combination of the ABOVE MENTIONED, and I'm quoting "teams could be competing with the likes of Cleveland, Silsbee, Stafford, etc for Region 3 supremacy." Dang, they left HJ out of the mix ::) I bet people thought the Dallas schools would never drop down to 3-A ;)

Jim Hicks love to speculate just to stir it up.

stevenash Posted October 7, 2011 Report Posted October 7, 2011 Dove- You mentioned the Dallas Schools who dropped to 3-a. Why arent they dominating the State Tourney each year like you think the Houston Schools will?
AggiesAreWe Posted October 7, 2011 Report Posted October 7, 2011 The only two Dallas ISD schools that have dropped to 3A are Madison and Smith. Smith is no longer a school, merged with other schools and is just a technical school now, no sports.
BLUEDOVE3 Posted October 7, 2011 Author Report Posted October 7, 2011 In Houston, you would have about 5-7 schools in 3-A. Maybe HJ could start a small 3-A division or maybe drop down to 2-A. nAH, that wouldn't work because the enrollment is ????? hmmmm? Well yall had some transfers too. I guess 3-A it is. Good lu ...errr luc. ;)
stevenash Posted October 7, 2011 Report Posted October 7, 2011 I guess we will just have to wait and see how far the Panthers and Hawks go in their respective divisions. HJ played Wheatley a few years ago in a warm up game and their was no dominance whatsoever. Dove, for a guy who prides himself on being "old school" you sure are hard on me when I bring up somebody from another era
