JMay Posted November 22, 2006 Report Posted November 22, 2006 Should be a good game between two old rivals. I'm just curious though, why is it everytime there is a big game, it is on TV. Doesn't that hurt attendance in the long run. Wouldn't you be more likely to go to see Lamar if it wasn't on.....Bigger Crowd...louder...home court advantage?? I always thought they should show the road games on tv, not the ones we can all get to. Just wondering if I was the only one that thought this way.
tvc184 Posted November 22, 2006 Report Posted November 22, 2006 I used to wonder about that myself but I don't think it hurts and if it does, not much. Lamar basketball is a local sport and almost like high school football. Either you want to go to the games or you don't. Being on the tube probably has no bearing on it. It might be different for big time programs where people might drive for a couple of hours to get to a game. How far do people come from to see UCLA, North Carolina, etc? Coop, would you stay home and watch WO-S football on television on friday nights if it was live or would you go to the stadium and get a feel for the excitement? I would suspect that you would attend every game in person as would other fans. The people that stay home from those games would have stayed at home anyway, especially when it is on the radio.
JMay Posted November 22, 2006 Author Report Posted November 22, 2006 I see your point, and I was a season ticket holder for 3 or four years and a die hard when I was a student and made lots of road trips. I was just curious what other thought. My dad is an alum and he always asks why its on the tube when its a big home game, b/c he thought it might hurt attendance some, but the regulars are going no matter what. I still wish they would do the road games on tv more instead of home, but then there is the cost factor.
KFDM COOP Posted November 22, 2006 Report Posted November 22, 2006 They should do a few road ones again this year.
