Dogs’ Slam Galena Park, Moves on to Lamar Consolidated

Galena who? That’s what Nederland fans were asking after the Bulldogs commanded the field at Baytown Stallworth to a thumping of 48-7 Saturday night. Nederland took control of the game early by stopping the Yellow Jackets on their first possession, 3 and out. Nederland was able to score on its first two drives, jumping out to an early 14-0 lead. The pattern would remain the same for the rest of the night enabling Mosley and Co. to rack up big numbers against a struggling Galena Park defense.

Nederland was not the only 22-4A team to take care of business. Dayton and Central also cleaned house; paving the way for a total sweep of District 21-4A. Dayton prevailed by pummeling Crosby as Central squeezed by Barber's Hill Friday Night. Nederland (6-5) moves on to face the # 4 Lamar Consolidated Mustangs (11-0). Being the obvious under ’dogs’, Nederland looks to play perfect football and force the Mustangs to make mistakes. Lamar Consolidated looks to run the ball mainly, but they can and will pass the ball too. Nederland will start out with its bread and butter offense…shhhhh don’t tell anyone from Lamar Consolidated who that bread and butter is, maybe we can catch them off guard. Realistically, the Mustangs know exactly who will be getting the ball, Micah Mosley. Nederland must execute its offense just like they have been doing all year. Mosley has the fortune of running behind (at least for a couple of seconds) a great offensive line. The single most important key to winning this game is controlling time of possession. Nederland and Lamar Consolidated will collide Saturday at 6 P.M. at Baytown Stallworth Stadium again.
