Can't never tell how returning players will work these Pirates hungry this YEAR. Just cause you coming back doesn't make you have the same hungry the next year. I say go fight win Pirates NOW 2011. This is a sound football team that doesn't beat themselves. Go Coach Matthews.

Good post! I agree.. Attack NOW! Next year is never guaranteed. Nederland went 3 or 4 years in a row losing their starting QB predistrict. Strike while the iron is hot. Hope we see you again in the playoffs but sorry to say it will be a similar outcome..  ;)

Idk about that. If it happens to be in the cards that we do see each other again i'm sure Bolinger will be back for that game and he will be looking for some payback  8)
I can only hope and pray that we get Mr. Bollinger back and meet our non-rival Nederland in the second or third round of the playoffs....please dear Lord make that happen....

Now that would be a great game. The Black and Gold Bowl X2  8)

If you meet them, it wouldn't be till the regional final, in D1.  If you go D2, you might get the  Brenham match up you wanted in round 2.

Nederland just keeps improving while all the other teams in the district are getting worse.  :o

Be careful what you wish for, Nederland is a much improved team than what you faced earlier in the season. I don't think that's a realistic possibility though. I don't think Vidor makes it past bi-district if they make the playoffs.

I can only post about what I've seen. I don't see Vidor week-in and week-out to gauge them. I just feel like this Nederland team is special and getting better. I think they will peak at the right time.

Well i can tell you that i've been to every Vidor game since Nederland and some of the practices and Vidor is not through surprising people and were are steadily improving as well. And we are still without Bolinger. IMO Vidor has yet to play up to its potential on offense and defense. We are still getting better and better and have yet to peak.  8)

I hear that Quirante went out against Nederland as well . They probable hurt the middle of your defense and your offense . When these 2 get reunited then look out
Yeah most of our skill positions got hurt that night. When Bolinger went out they tried #11, Quinten Whitmire, in his position and he got hurt. And he is also a starting corner. Austin Powell also got hurt that game with a bruised up knee and he is starting on Defense and gets some playing time on QB as well. And yes Quirante did get hurt a lil bit with a hyperextension and he starts on QB and MLB but i wasn't gonna bring those up lol.  ::)  8)

I would take it one game at a time.. Playoffs are tougher than district play.. Plus vidor has a few really tough district games coming up.. I would like for vidor to make it and make some noise..
These Pirates are pretty special too. With some special leadership from several of the players. They will make the playoffs.

You know, I hear a lot of "it would have been a different game if so and so would have been playing", etc. While that may be true, but Nederland has yet to have had it's full defense play... just as everyone else, we have had some of our key defensive players out... at an average of two or more at a time. That's part of the game. We are just now starting to get some of those folks back... a couple are still questionable. That being said, it just shows how deep Nederland's talent level is at defense. So, yes... it would have been a different game... especially if we would have had all of our troops active. That being said, for those guys who have been filling in... you've did a pretty dang good job, boys! Anybody else interested in going for it on 4th and inches? ;)

any word on bollinger when can he return
for rb for vidor? this would help them even
more.

He don't really know. Depends on when his foot heals and when he feels comfortable running on it. Maybe LCM but probably Central.
From what i hear he will most likely be out for the season..i know alot of people from around there and they claim he milks things. At home they say he is walking just fine and around his buddies' houses, he is tired of getting smashed on by all this 4a defense. Maybe if he was a freshman and had time to gain size he would be in good shape, but from my stand point i see a JV running back. Sorry to burst your bubble Vidor, cooper or stevenson will run all over people compared to yall's star.

Just ignore him JollyRoger81. He's just another case of jealousy against David. Anyone who thinks David is a JV running back is beyond stupid. And anyone who thinks david "milks" injuries is even more stupid IMO. He's probably a guy who lives in Vidor and goes to the school and is some trouble maker who doesn't have the balls to play football or is simply not strong enough and is lashing out on David cuz he's jealous. Plain and simple.

JV running back?  Tell me where your standing, cause I sure would like to see your view.  He hasn't been a JV running back since midway through his sophomore year, when the 79-yard kickoff return for a TD earned him a spot on varsity, where he stayed the rest of the season.  As far as "milking" things, perhaps you should check your sources.  Either you're a wannabe who's simply jealous of the real thing,  or your talking to someone who is.  David Bolinger is one of the most respected members of the Vidor Pirates.  Sorry to burst your bubble, caneyhead, pick someone else to bash!

Look this is the reason why I dont like threads like this to start.  First,  to questions someones heart on weather you are injured or hurt is sily.  If your just  hurt, which there are alot of those during the season,  wrap it and get out there and play.  If you are injured, like a broken bone or tendon or muscle tear, let it heal and come back if you can.  Bolinger has heart.  I know better than most since I coached him since he was 6 in football.  Now to bash Stevensonis BS also.  He has been playing just fine in Bolingers stead and is one heck of an athlete. So Caney your an idiot and it shows in your posts but anyone else posting dont bash one of the other athletes to try and make your point because what sense does that make either.

    • It’s behind a paywall but here’s Baytown Sun’s story on it.  It was reported on in other papers statewide so if you search by the date I think you’ll find other stories on it. UIL strengthens student transfer rules By Ron McDowell [email protected] Oct 18, 2024   In order to maintain a level playing field for all member schools, the University Interscholastic League strengthened rules regarding transfer student eligibility at its most recent meeting in Austin. Every year thousands of students transfer schools in the state of Texas. A student’s ability to participate in UIL sanctioned activities may be limited base on the reasons for the transfer. A change in family status, work transfers, enrollment in an academic magnet program, or a move across town, receive scrutiny, but only rarely does one of these reasons result in the loss of eligibility. The only reason to automatically cause the loss of participation eligibility is a transfer for athletic purposes. The current rule, which has been in place since 1981, does not require a Previous Athletic Participation Form (PAPFs) to be submitted if the student-athlete does not participate in a varsity level sport during the first year of enrollment. There has been growing concern among some member schools, that other members are breaking the current rule and creating “super teams” with new transfer enrollees, and that the UIL is not doing enough to police, what appear to be, the inordinate number of transfers among high school athletes. To mitigate these concerns, the UIL approved a proposal to expand the power of the State Executive Committee (SEC) and allow it to investigate schools based upon the number of PAPFs submitted. Schools that submit an inordinate number of PAPFs would face heightened scrutiny and possible public reprimand and future sanctions. The UIL has also changed the requirements for PAPF submission, mandating that the form be submitted before a grade 9-12 transfer student may participate at any level of school athletics. This is a marked departure from the current policy which encourages schools not to complete PAPFs for students who transfer in, if the school believes that the student will not play a varsity sport in the first year the student is enrolled at the new school. Some critics of the current system think that the change doesn’t go far enough. Speaking on background, one local school district source suggested that there should be an automatic year wait for transfer students due to the number of loopholes in the waiver process. “If a student transfers, it should be a year out of competition automatically,” the source said. In addition, the UIL also approved a proposal that gives the SEC the power to appoint an independent administrator to oversee the conduct of the local District Executive Committee (DEC) if it is determined that the DEC is not consistently enforcing the rules of the governing body. The change is significant since all appeals that a school brings, starts and usually ends with the DEC. That includes the determination of transfer student eligibility. It is believed that with the implementation of this change, schools in a UIL district will be less likely to face retribution from the DEC chair and other members. The policy changes will go into effect, Aug. 1, 2025 This is the hidden content, please Sign In or Sign Up
