So-called "one-dimensional" teams don't last in the playoffs because someone finds a way to stop whatever they are good at.  But, really who has stopped Vidor's running game so far?  Nederland, sort of...  There is absolutely no reason to suddenly start throwing the ball when you can run all over the other opponents easily.

No you didn't insult mathews directly but you did insult his coaching/playing style. And that is against the rules. Plain and simple.

And to all of yall saying you can't make it too far in the playoffs with a run heavy offense check your stats. Liberty Hill won two state championships back to back in 2006 and 2007 while running the Slot T offense.

No, not me. I did not say a word about Matthews. I merely commented on 1954's comment about Vidor getting beat in the playoffs. I am commenting from a neutral perspective. As I mentioned, they are likely to lose at some point since only one team comes out of the playoffs undefeated, right? I think they will win 2-3 playoff games, depending on their draw. I wish Vidor the best, but I don't see them winning the state title this year.

I never said we would win state either and my comment wasn't directly meant towards you Abe. It was meant towards everyone that is saying Vidor's Slot T offense isn't good enough for the playoffs.

I'm sure Matthews knows the limits and abilities of his team. If the passing game was a strength, i'm sure he would go to it. Since it's not, he's doing what most good coaches do by playing to the strength of his team, which is running the ball.

Hey mytwocents, this is just a case of jealousy breeds contempt. I really don't know why we even answer people who hate to see Vidor win regardless of the sport. One of the reasons I quit posting some years back was some of the crud I saw written on these boards about our hometown. Jeff Mathews is the best AD in the area, one hell of a coach, and we'll see just how far the slot-T and that defense takes us. I'm sorta enjoying the naysayers this time. By the way, I seem to recall Liberty Hill winning state in 2007 and 2008 using the same offense....

I don’t think it was bashing either.  I think he was stating his opinion of the program in Vidor and its history.  If we want to change that opinion than we need to show that we earn it through winning.  The idea that 1) We should have some respect out there from other teams in this area or state is crazy.  We haven’t done anything yet.  2) Respect is earned not given.  We keep winning then it will be earned.  and 3)  Does it really matter if you have other teams respect.  The respect from other teams never wins ball games.  The team does.  Lastly,  The Vidor coaches obviously read these forums.  If the stuff that is said on here bothers them either don’t read it or get thicker skin.  Let the repercussions of the post roll.  ::)

Every team except one loses in the playoffs each year. I don't see this comment as slanderous against another person, it's merely an opinion of what will possibly happen b/c Vidor rely's on the run so much.with that said, I have to agree. And to all of yall saying you can't make it too far in the playoffs with a run heavy offense check your stats. Liberty Hill won two state championships back to back in 2006 and 2007 while running the Slot T offense.
