Should Jeremy Johnson Start Next Week?

I would be surprised if Coach Woodard lets JJ start. This would an admission that he was wrong for starting Bevil at the beginning of the season. As far as the defense, they have some very good players but they always seem to be in the wrong D coverage at the wrong time.

So? fix it now or wait til spring...can't do anything about the past....

Naw, I'm good where I'm at and I think the coaching staff is doing okay for a second year program.

A couple of these others may have the credentials to do so.

2nd year program or not, our defense stinks...i didnt expect miracles this year, but i had hoped we would have made progress on defense...we havent..we have def players from UH, SMU,ARK ST,Tulane, Mizzou and AM...and they are getting kicked around, whether it be by Incarnate Word or TSU

Mizzou transfer Coleman is out with a ACL. Tulane transfer is out with a hamstring. Ark State transfer Blake Chavis is playing okay. ATM transfer Dorsey has had a pretty good year.

Also lost for the season is James Washington.

It also would help the defense if the offense converted a few 3rd downs. Especially in the 3rd downs in the first half.

I do think  they can play better.

I feel Jeremy did get to benefit from playing against the backups of texas state but you can't deny what he did was impressive. Everyone blames Bevil for chunkin it deep every play but its not his fault he was taught to do by Whitten. Johnson is going to get in the game and do the same thing. Its our offense. That's where the problem starts. Bevil has done better than last year but not good enough with our only slightly improved running game.
The defense has been the biggest disappointment in my mind. They are worse than last year. No pass rush and undersized up front to stop the run. I thought when Woodard fired Hinshaw last year it was to late in the coaching carousel for him to find an experienced DC. That's why he hired the young guy from UTEP. Hope we can add to the staff this offseason.

Still hope we can find a way to win 2 more games this year. If we can I will think this was a successful season. Lot of football left.

Dude, give the Prewitt thing a rest. He's not going to play unless the other two get hurt. With this offensive line you want pocket passer in there? So instead of Ints, you want 5 or 6 sacks a game. Keep Prewitt out of the discussion1
did allright last year...5 or 6 sacks?..got that last week, both bevil and jerrij hold on to the ball too long

jerrij has to cut down on the fumbles--at least 3 fumbles in 22 rushing attempts..

and you are right..prewitt wont play unless the other 2 get hurt...but i will discuss him all i want..dont read it if ya dont like it

You're right he is from Iowa. My mistake as Marcus Malbrough DE is from Mizzou. I haven't been overly impressed his his play.

No, he is a Prewittsexual. LOL. There has to be some type of connection. Family member, friend, fan of Kelly HS or alumnus.

If that's not the pot calling te Kettle black I don't know what is.  I am so sick and tired of you hyping Jeremy I could puke.  At least I have stats and facts to back up my opinion.

I will admit, I do like the fact that he is a Kelly boy but that is about where it ends.  Don't know him know who is family is.  What I do know is that I am a big LU fan and I love LU football and I want to win and I want to sell out the home games.  If you want both of those things to happen then you play Prewitt until he proves that he's not deserving...which likely won't happen

Maybe if you'd play the best qb you'd convert first downs.

I'm actually from Orange and don't see Bevil playing as bad as some of you make out. I say and will continue to say Jeremy Johnson is the future QB of this program.

I haven't made half the post about Bevil that you do Prewitt. I think Bevil is already in the top 5 QB's in yardage to ever play at Lamar but to some of you that isn't good enough.

I can say the same and more about my support of Lamar University.
