I think I can say without fear of contradiction that no person who had the privilege of meeting Matt ever came away from that encounter unimpressed. Matt had the rare ability to grab your heart right away he was a young man who was comfortable with himself, open and unpretentious, a yes sir, no sir type, and when you were around him you recognized that this was a young man of character that had been raised right. I'm blessed to have had the chance to have known Matt and to have had him in our home, my entire family has been forever changed by knowing Matthew Eugene Thomas.

Cheermom4 Posted October 19, 2011 Report Posted October 19, 2011 Praying for his family, team mates, friends and the Vidor community as they say their last see ya later to Matt today. :'(
ndnsrock44 Posted October 20, 2011 Report Posted October 20, 2011 Great article. I can't imagine the heartbreak that his family feels right now. I pray that God gives them the peace and comfort that only He can provide at times like these. Hopefully the positive influence Matt had on the Vidor community will produce positive results in the lives he touched. In the midst of this tragedy, many positive things can come from the impact he had in his short time here on this earth. Matt thanking all his teammates after the game illustrates that we need to never take each other for granted and to show our love and appreciation for each other both in words and deeds, for there is no guarantee for tomorrow. I didn't know this young man, but his life and story has made an impact on me and others outside of Vidor. Rest in God's peace young man and thank you for the legacy you left behind for others.
