Only stopping traffic coming out of the school parking lot, and the traffic lights, all two of them ;D.. they stop traffic for the band too.
BWOOD Posted October 26, 2011 Report Posted October 26, 2011 All Vidor Teams and Band travel with Vidor ISD Police escort. We even hire extra in the event that several teams are playing on the same night.
robanadana Posted October 26, 2011 Report Posted October 26, 2011 Most schools who have their own police have escorts to each game. I've seen them from other schools at Vidor's games as well as other games not involving our team. I think it's just standard procedure for every school given today's issues...nothing deep attached to it.

jordibug15 Posted October 26, 2011 Report Posted October 26, 2011 I know Lumberton's band, cheerleaders and drill team used to have Lumberton cops with them for away games. Not sure about now though that was when Boothman was my step dad back 7 to 8 years ago.

tvc184 Posted October 26, 2011 Report Posted October 26, 2011 Most districts have to hire off duty officers since most districts do not have their own police departments.
exbccards76smom Posted October 27, 2011 Report Posted October 27, 2011 Bridge City has always had a police escort.

If they want security it is usually much cheaper to hire city police on contract than to have a police department. The problem is that the school can't have control over those city police like they can school district police. Hard to sweep things under the rug when the city is putting out press releases. 8)

invictus Posted October 27, 2011 Report Posted October 27, 2011 Personally, as far as academics go, if I had my choice I wouldn't send my kids to any of the schools around here.

kicker Posted October 28, 2011 Report Posted October 28, 2011 WOS used to have escorts while my father was the mayor. When he won a higher office in 94, the new Mayor and council cut it out due budget cuts. Something had to be cut I believe and that was a logical choice imo.
