I can kind of believe that he called down to the bullpen and asked for Rzepczynski and Motte and the coach down there only heard him say Rzepczynski.  But I seriously doubt that after this mixup, he called BACK down to the pen and asked for Motte again, and the coach misheard him and started warming up Lynne.  Honestly, if you're in the bullpen, and the manager asks for someone to be warmed up and you screw it up, do you honestly think there's any way that it's going to happen again.  the manager is going to call back and include so much profanity and screaming that there will be NO question who he wants warming up.

It sure seems to me like LaRussa is trying to blame his poor management of the bullpen on loud fans.  Maybe once, but surely not twice in 5 minutes.

When do you become the "pitcher  of record"? When you leave the bullpen or when you "toe the  rubber"?

I know in Little League if you even "give the impression" that you are "toeing the rubber" (3rd baseman during warm ups between innings pretends to pitch from the mound for example) you become the pitcher of record.

Know the MLB must be different.
