GoDogs27 Posted October 30, 2011 Report Posted October 30, 2011 What are your thoughts? I personally would like to see the first team get two or three possessions in and if they look sharp, then pull them.
AggiesAreWe Posted October 30, 2011 Report Posted October 30, 2011 In Coach Neuman's interview after the win Friday night, he was asked specifically if he would sit some starters for next week's game against LCM and his answer was an emphatic "NO".I see him playing his first team guys the first half and no matter the score, possibly sit them the whole second half.
Guest Pirate_pride_07 Posted October 30, 2011 Report Posted October 30, 2011 yeah probably play em first half and pull em second half. More than likely the same thing Vidor's gonna do.
dawgnut Posted October 30, 2011 Report Posted October 30, 2011 Our offense is still a work in progress this is no time to think you have it made we need do keep on working and improving.
Bulldog8 Posted October 30, 2011 Report Posted October 30, 2011 They all should play unless they have a nagging injury that could get better by resting. Also mix the starters with 2nd and 3rd teamers to keep some continuity
dogbite Posted October 30, 2011 Report Posted October 30, 2011 No way..these ar e not over paid millionaire cry babies..they are high schoolers playing for fun. They should Play just like they have the rest of the season..get a win and get ready for the playoffs
Bigdog Posted October 30, 2011 Report Posted October 30, 2011 I was thinking about the same thing this weekend. I agree that they need to play the first half or so in order to keep the rust off. After that sit them, there's no reason to get someone hurt in a game with no impact on the season.
Mr. Buddy Garrity Posted October 30, 2011 Report Posted October 30, 2011 I say rest them in the second half.
baddog Posted October 30, 2011 Report Posted October 30, 2011 Sure would be nice to go undefeated also. Need the stay crisp. Tough call.
bulldawg64 Posted October 30, 2011 Report Posted October 30, 2011 i am sure they will play until early 3rdqtr then subsitutes will come in and outlike i have seen happen in previous years.keep them sharp by playing some.
dawgnut Posted October 31, 2011 Report Posted October 31, 2011 I think going undefeated in district means a lot to this group, so I don't see much of a let down. I agree with 64, we start substituting in the 3rd.
tvc184 Posted October 31, 2011 Report Posted October 31, 2011 I am wondering how many people are putting the horse before the cart and assuming that the game will be over by the half.

NewIndian Posted October 31, 2011 Report Posted October 31, 2011 yall would probably still beat em with the second string in
phunter308 Posted October 31, 2011 Report Posted October 31, 2011 I hope it is over after first quarter so some guys can heal up. I know Brock wants to play because he missed last week . I do think the team wants to be perfect in District and if they could go back and play BH with all the starters in the game they would in a heartbeat.Great drive in this group of young men.
BMTSoulja1 Posted October 31, 2011 Report Posted October 31, 2011
They all should play unless they have a nagging injury that could get better by resting. cornhusker Posted October 31, 2011 Report Posted October 31, 2011 The Dogs havent won this game yet. Ozen played there tails off and came up a little short. I think Larry will bring in other kids in the 4th quarter if he feels comfortable.
diego cruz Posted October 31, 2011 Report Posted October 31, 2011 yeah rest starters & mix 2nd,3rd teamers?hell why not put a few 9th graders in they are better than some of the 2nd & 3rd string. good thing u guys dont coach, dont change nothing play to win like all year.if a guy is hurt dont play.nederland is a tough, bring it hard every play, never rest in your face team, resting starters doesnt fit nederlands mentality.

Especially given our injury history the last few years.
badndn Posted October 31, 2011 Report Posted October 31, 2011 NO!!!!You don't have to play them the whole game (and you won't need to against LCM), but get them some reps and a healthy lead for the sake of finishing what you started strong.
puddleofmudd Posted October 31, 2011 Report Posted October 31, 2011 There is nothing wrong with getting others more playing time, depth is key to winning. Play your starters try to win, start getting kids reps. There are no redo's in the playoffs, your stud my go down and someone had better get ready or the sounds of thump thump will soon be on the horizon.
Razor Posted October 31, 2011 Report Posted October 31, 2011 You continue to play to win...if the opportunity presents itself, you play more guys than you normally would, but only if you can...you do not want to go into the playoffs on a losing note and it would be that much sweeter to be UNDEFEATED district champs...it's OK and probably wise to limit players who may be dinged up a bit, but all healthy hands on deck and let's finish what we started...besides, these kids want to play, whether hurt or not, so I say let them play so long as it doesn't do anything to hurt you in the playoffs
Holman Posted October 31, 2011 Report Posted October 31, 2011 Well i think it would be pretty cool for a certain sophmore JV defensive tackle get a little varsity action. But I'm biased!
