Hey Soulja-Have U seen Ned play this summer or in Houston this Fall? Remember their JV also won district last year, and their Freshman tied for district champs. They are young with fresh faces, I agree. But these kids can play some round ball, no doubt!

Don't know how good the JV team will be this year. The team will be missing their best Freshman player (Kolton Kimler (not Weisbrod)) from last year's team who will be on Varsity this year. He is currently playing both ways on Nederland's varsity FB team. In addition, the Ned Freshman team tied with Ozen last year for the district title, and they only lost 2 games all year, and they won 2 of their 3 tournaments. I wouldn't say Nederland's run is over just yet!  ;)

If you haven't seen them play, then what are you basing your assessment on? Presumption? Only time will tell if they are "as good", but how is that even measured? Success?
A good time to assess this team will be in HJ the Monday before Thanksgiving. Should be a great game like it was last year.

He is referring to this year's Varsity squad not being as good as those players mentioned, I believe? Not the Ned Freshman team from last year. But the Ned freshman team only lost two games last year. One in the Championship game of the Ned tourney, and the other in OT against Ozen. They accomplished that w/o their best freshman (Weisbrod). Say what you want Dove, but you need to give credit where it is due.

Whipped up on who this summer, the Freshman team? It really doesn't matter Dove. Nederland's Varsity, JV, and Freshman all won district last year. If you want to make yourself feel better by trying to discredit them from an 8th grade game during the summer, then go for it! Their play on the court last year (combined record of 92-8) speaks for itself, and all evidence points towards another strong year for Big Ned Basketball!

i wonder how they mke these picks since evadale won at home last year and H-D won at there house, and evadale lost 5 SR and i dont think H-D lost any but they still got evadale ahead of H-D but hell what do i know

I'm not a fan of pre-season rankings. If it were up to me, I would not release rankings until 10-15 games into the season. But they didn't ask me.

Who made these rankings?? I agree to the teams they picked for playoffs, but here is how I see it from all the summer ball and last year..
PRE-Season:
1 - Central
2 - Nederland
3 - Ozen
4 - Livingston

Not sure about the preseason rankings myself, believe that it's what you do on the court and where you finish in the end that matters most, but I can say this about the 2011-2012 Rebels they have three returning starters from last years team including our leading scorer, Devon Murphy. Shawn Totten and Brandon Bruce are the other two, all three of them are seniors this year. Add senior Kyle Tayor a post player into that mix (Kyle got substancial minutes in the State Semi-Final game last year) and the other player who was on the bench for the Rebels last year is Briden Burford another scorer. So experience will not be a problem for the Rebels this season.

Coach Williams (Coach L) to us here in Evedale, knows this will be a different team that will not be the pound it inside team as last year, but they will know how to win and with another year of tough predistrict games they will be ready to face anything that ge thrown their way. Not saying the Rebels are bound for Austin again, but that they we be ready to make another run at district this year and beyond that, who knows!
