robanadana Posted November 4, 2011 Report Posted November 4, 2011
The problem with having odd numbered teams in a district, is that it forces some of those teams to have off weeks during district play, resulting in someone being forced to have their off week not until week 10. A lot of coaches do not like this and that's why the UIL tries to get districts with even numbers so that this can be eliminated.
Just move WOS back up to 4A where they belong. Everyone knows they smoke their enrollment numbers to stay in 3A. God rest his soul; Dan Hooks was a master at this. He had kids from New Orleans on his team five days after Katrina hit.
BaseBow Posted November 4, 2011 Report Posted November 4, 2011 I thought Goose Creek would be closer to GT than Dayton...

Texas. Don't ya think? lol ;D ;D ;D
Growing up in West Texas going to games was brutal. Midland and Odessa are less that 15 miles apart. But they do play Abilene in district which is a good drive, and the others you mentioned. The 3A and lower are especially harder driving 3+ hrs is very common even for district games.
