mat
It’s a big night for the UFC. Saturday is the first fight night for the UFC under their new contract with FOX. It should be a good title fight along with some other decent fights.

mat
So much for the UFC free fight debut. Fox aired Lamar game instead so it was back to watching on the computer like always. Plus UFC and FOX are going to have to rethink their plan. Not going to generate a lot interest in an hour premier for one one minute fight. I didn’t expect Dos Santos to take it much less that fast. Guest baseball25
mat it wasn't controversial, pacman average 12 more punches a round than marquez and outlanded him in punches by 70 landed punches, everyone thinks marquez got job bec he did better than whatmost people thought he would do but i have pacman 115-113 and alot of media that have now watch it on tv said they can see pacman got the win, it was a close fight no doubt but pacman punches did more damaged and busted up marquez little more, but great fight now lets make the fight everyone once to see, it would be the biggest boxing money event ever!!! mat
I'm a big MMA fan and just don't care for boxing. I have no arguement about which is better, it's just my preference. Guest baseball25
smashmouth, Boxing paperview numbers beats UFC anyday, if mayweather vs pacman got done and u had gsp vs silva on the same night boxing kills mma in how much money each sport makes that night. Ortiz vs mayweather had huge numbers and pacman vs marquez just did huge numbers, cotto vs margrito will have good numbers too, SO you can't say boxing has been out for a long time!! numbers don't lie, UFC have so many pviews a yr than boxing but no way in hell boxing has been out of the door a long time when boxing just had 2 paperviews do over 1 million buys in a 2 month span!! also pacman vs mosley did over a million buys this yr and cotto vs margrito will get to a million or pretty close to it

mat
Boxing may have more PPV fans per fight and may always have but MMA/UFC promotion is the cause for the steady rise in the sport and if the right promotions continue who knows where it will end up. All of the following is helping the popularity grow. Many more quality cards per year. Now we’re getting more free quality fights per year and free prelims. Many quality rerun fights on TV every week. A big increase in mainstream media coverage of fights and fighters. The UFC even has a reality show. All this put together is working well. Guest baseball25
People have been saying boxing is dead and this and that and it's not even close to being dead, UFC Paperview buys this yr are down from last yr, also UFC is switching back to the 9pm slot instead of the 8pm slot to try and get pview numbers up again because they feel they are hurting with the 8oclock start timehttp://sports.yahoo.com/box/news?slug=ki-iole_boxing_not_dead091311By espn: Pacquiao-Marquez III was a big winner at the gate. According to the Nevada State Athletic Commission, the sold-out fight at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas generated a live gate of $11,648,300, good for ninth all-time in Nevada history. The 15,498 tickets sold were the most for a Nevada boxing event since Mayweather-Oscar De La Hoya on May 5, 2007 at the MGM and the second most since Bernard Hopkins-De La Hoya on Sept. 18, 2004, also at the MGM. There were 861 complimentary tickets given out for Pacquiao-Marquez III, according to the commission. In addition to the crowd at the MGM, the closed circuit broadcast of the fight at eight Las Vegas properties generated an additional $575,200 from 11,504 tickets, according to the commission. mat
Once I became interested in MMA and the many facets of the sport, boxing just seemed to get boring for me. Some MMA fights can also be boring but more often than not with all the tools they have to work with keep it exciting. Just my personal preference. The Clay Gudia and Ben Henderson fight last Saturday was a perfect example.
Guest baseball25
I just get aggervated when people say boxing is dead when its not even close to being dead lolhey I love mma too don't get me wrong, I have not missed a ufc fight in prob 7 yrs, I get all the pviews, and I get all the boxing too, but like I said if pacman vs mayweather fight on the same night as a big ufc event I would watch the pacman vs mayweather way before the ufc fight but I would also dvr the UFC event!! I think alot of mma fans would prefer the mayweather vs pacman fight too just bec that is the biggest fight to make in any of the sports!!
mat
I don't watch much boxing but will probably watch the Paq Mayweather fight if it ever happens. Boxing is alive and well but for me it's not what it was when I was growing up. You will always have your true blue die hard boxing fans but to keep the fair weathered fans, boxing needs to keep promotioning big names. Paq's promotion has done a lot for boxing. Guest baseball25
it's not as big for you becuase you don't have that big name Heavyweight like a tyson, holyfield, lewis and etc!!! the little guys is what makes boxing goes now, Boxing needs a big time heavyweight that flat outs knocks people out and right now it doesn't!! mat
True. Back in the day everyone knew Ali, Frazier, Foreman, Holyfield, Tyson and even Suger Ray. Even people that knew nothing about boxing knew who they were. I'm showing my age.
