This was a great game!  I have become more and more impressed with Mathews and the rest of the Vidor Coaching staff.  Vidor has always played with heart, whether they were winning or not, but enjoy watching them line em up and grind it out.  It just made my day to watch them handle business these last two weeks, but last night was extra special because of all the smack that 19-4A has been talking.  Keep representing, keep executing, = keep winning! Much support and respect from this Panther fan!

P.S.- wouldn't mind a Pirate shirt for the playoffs  just saying...

Crosby had a linebacker injured. Wow. I thought I saw #33 all over the field. He looked like a linebacker playing hard to me. If more Crosby fans would have shown up maybe the players would have noticed and that mighta helped. The Crosby players were playing for pride in themselves because evidently not many people in Crosby are fans. Any coach makin a game plan around 1 linebacker or any other position is rather short-sighted. Good luck next year.

We had well over 200 fans that's a huge stadium, but it wasn't the normal showing mainly because a huge core of our fans work shift work, and can't go watch a football game on a Thursday night, unless they have a kid.
Shift Work??

Yeah right and nobody from this area works shift! Did you not notice the chemical plant and refinery that were right behind you last night...They were still running! Didn't shut'em down for the football game.  ;D
Exactly! I have begged, borrowed, traded shifts, burned vacation over the years to make PNG games. What a lame excuse! Vidor fans have always supported their team win or lose. Over the years I always remember them showing up to support their school.
So how many times have you had to take 2 days off to make it work? I know 3 people who missed the game because it was THURSDAY, this was a friday game everyone would be their, just saying its very difficult to judge people when you have a 5 minute drive.

Any Defensive Coordinator that runs a 3-3-5 after the 1st half last night and made no changes should be fired much less game plan 1 player.

To be fair about the attendance, there was about 8,000 on the home side (Vidor) and about 1500 on the visitor side (Crosby).
The whole stadium holds 10,600 with both sides about equal.  How could 8,000 be on one side?

Good post AAW... I figured the 200 comment was a gross underestimation.

I realize that Crosby ISD takes in a lot of surrounding areas, but has anyone bothered to take a look at the disparity in population between Crosby proper and Vidor?  Vidor is much larger and I'm sure take in some surrounding areas as well. But, this is a big factor for Crosby's crowd size. We know all the reasons Vidor had a big crowd, but I'm not sure throwing Crosby under the bus is necessary, at least not without looking at the facts.

I know my dad has gone to Vidor games during losing seasons in Baytown, LaPorte, Deer Park, LaMarque, etc. and gotten up at 3:30 AM the next morning to go to work.  And this was not during the years my brothers were playing.  I know he'd drive across the state to see Vidor in a playoff game no matter how much work he had to miss.

I never intended to trash Crosby's attendance, only pointing out that Vidor always travels well.

I'm familiar with the Crosby area, I have many friends and family there.  The town size is not why Vidor travels well.

PNG and Nederland also travel well, but usually have a little bit better reason to travel.  Not many teams have had the stint of bad seasons and retained such a following.  I can't explain it, but Vidor attends games even during the past 30+ years without a winning season.  We support our team no matter what.

You are right.  I was thinking about the Butch.  My apology AAW.  I should have known you wouldn't have made a mistake.

I'll stick with my original estimates. It wasn't solely a jab at Crosby, Livingston was just as bad the week before and last time I went through there, I didn't see any refineries. Vidor and Montgomery are playing next Friday at Galena Park. Any guess on what the Vidor crowd size will be? I hope the last person out of town remembers to turn off the lights. Just sayin'....
