New transfer is very talented! Guessing its jayson!
I always tend to think its nice for the opposing team to have bigs. But ya gotta have the guard play to be able to get bigs involved.  ;)
Yep, Jayson is the transfer, and he was very impressive last night. Blue-
Ur starting to sound a little scared.  :o

I think the guards played fairly well, English had a decent game, and lormier was lighting it up. There was a little case of the first game jitters going around however
I agree. The guards did struggle a little bit. Except Lormier. English beat is man all night to be hole, he just could not finish. I think he only scored 7 or 8 points, but he handled the ball very well. The only turnover he had was on a very questionable charge late in the game. He will be fine.

HF/Vidor thread got hijacked by St. Pius/Ned talk.
Copied and pasted from that thread.

St. Pius was not very good. The point guard did a lot of juking, but never went anywhere. They had some big guys, but none of them could score. Nederland played a 1-2-2, but really squezed the middle since St. Pius put someone running from elbow to elbow. This left their wings open for 3's after one pass. Rarely did they attempt a 3, and didn't make the ones they attempted. St. Pius pressed Nederland, but Nederland was too quick and broke it every time. Ball went to the middle, and they ran the floor. Weisbrod's FG percentage MUST go up.

Trust me, we are not too excited yet. It was a good win, but there is much work to be done. I have complete faith that Coach English will address the issues, and the team will play better against HJ on Monday night.  8)

coach E better get #21 under control.several wild drives to the basket from half court that resulted in  badly missed shots or a turn over,0 for 7 on 3's(definantly not an outside shooter) & crying to refs about a foul while the other team is scoring at the other end.#40,#11 & #35 are very good players,#10 has to show up to play for 4 quarters.subs came in & played hard.if #21 becomes a better TEAM player instead of trying to be allen iverson nederland will be a very solid team.

Play for 4Quarters? Not sure what game you were watching, but #10 brought the ball up the court the entire time he was in the game, and never threw the ball away. Without him bringing the ball up the court, we might lose that game on TOs and fast break points. Yes, he missed some shots that normally fall for him, but that happens. #21 is probably their best player, and i think he felt he had to do more than usual, and he tried to put everything on his shoulders. Yes, he did miss a lot of 3's, but apparently you haven't seen him or #10 play much. They both normally make a majority of their shots (wherever they are on the floor). Judging these guys by one game is not a fair assessment of their talents.

Agreed. 10 took care of the ball and pushed the floor that led to fast break points. He'll still have to get better against quicker and faster teams for Nederland to be successful.

Good luck with that. I think it has been shown that there are more than just two good players for Nederland this year. When your best two players struggle and you still win by 20 points, that pretty much sums it up.

English and Weisbrod are good. Nederland played some man and a 1-2-2. Things any casual fan should notice.

thats the problem #21 is drinking his own koolaide & trying to be a one man show. #35 brought the ball up a little more then #10 because he got pulled a few times because of mistakes.unlike #21 who was left in no matter how bad or selfish he played,i guess the best player has different rules this year.nederland will be very good if they get all players believing in the team concept & lose the player introduction dances, that was awful! ;D

Dove- we get told that every year and it has worked out pretty well.  We have been told each year that when we got to Cleveland, we would find out what it meant to play a good team.  I think they found out the same thing, though.

Same here. Will be interesting Monday night regardless of who wins. HJ beats Nederland...well it's Nederland and they're still playing FB, come on man! If Nederland beats HJ, then some will say...it's a 3A team, come on man!  ::)
Rather comical if you ask me!  ;)

I'm not making any predictions on this one. Saving all my "trash talk" or " excuses" for after the game.
