I knew he had to be!

When the game ended, I saw the box score and it said that Texas had a gross misconduct, but it didn't name a player.

Sooooo, it had to be a bench penalty.

And when there is a gross misconduct involved, somebody has to be suspended and/or fined.

Cameron was the first one to come to mind.

He probably told the ref where he could put his whistle.

The Texas Wildcatters hockey team extended its winning streak to a team-record six games Tuesday in Florida, and coach Malcolm Cameron said he was unsure about why he was fined an undisclosed amount by the ECHL for actions following a recent game.

The ECHL announced Monday that Cameron had been fined because he was assessed a gross misconduct penalty for actions after a game Saturday in South Carolina. Cameron did not return a phone message Monday but said Tuesday he was unsure about what led to that ruling.

ECHL Vice President of Hockey Operations Rod Pasma said Cameron's actions were directed toward a referee.

"I don't know what I did," Cameron said via cell phone before the Wildcatters picked up a 6-5 victory over the Florida Everblades in Estero, Fla. "They never gave us an explanation. I've had two bench minor penalties going on nine years of coaching, so it's baffling to me what I got it for, considering I didn't do anything."

Pasma said he spoke with Cameron.

"I made it pretty clear exactly why he was being fined," Pasma said. "We don't hand any suspension or fine down until I talk to the person. He knows exactly why he was fined."

ECHL rules state the following can result in a gross misconduct: "Interfering with or striking a spectator; post-game verbal abuse from players, goalkeepers or non-playing club personnel (on or off the ice); racial taunts or slurs; or spitting on or at an opponent or spectator."
