BLUEDOVE3 Posted November 17, 2011 Report Posted November 17, 2011 I've seen several local high school basketball teams this year and it seems to me many of these teams are very young. Are there any local teams with mostly seniors & juniors on their teams? Just curious.
texas2step4u Posted November 19, 2011 Report Posted November 19, 2011 I dont know about anybody else, but the Vidor team took the floor this week with zero minutes of experience on the varsity level. At times there were 3 sophs on the floor. One senior who played JV last year. When football is over they will get exactly one player with varsity experience and he is a junior. Gonna be a tough year for those Pirates, being so young and all. Its a shame, too. The new head coach is very good and the team will be competitive but we do expect some blow-outs along the way as we mature. Now, if we could just get teams to quit pressing in the 4th quarter when they have a 30 point lead........
whsalum Posted November 19, 2011 Report Posted November 19, 2011 Kountze looks real young this year.HJ has a couple of solid seniors but they are young overall as well.
LOKI Posted November 19, 2011 Report Posted November 19, 2011 #3 from Kountze looked pretty good against HJ tonight.
Honest Abe Posted November 19, 2011 Report Posted November 19, 2011 As you know, Dove, Nederland is young. Starting line up is:SeniorJrJrJrSophBench players:3 Seniors4 Jrs1 SophGood observation on your part (for once)-ha! ;) Seems to be a lot of young teams in the area.
BLUEDOVE3 Posted November 19, 2011 Author Report Posted November 19, 2011 Wasn't sure at first. But this is great.
Honest Abe Posted November 19, 2011 Report Posted November 19, 2011 With so many young teams in the area, we may see more unexpected close games such as last night in the Lumberton/PAM game.

I thought at least one team in the area would be loaded with seniors.

killingmesmalls Posted November 20, 2011 Report Posted November 20, 2011 Dove you should know who HF has returning but here they are anyway:StartersBroussard SrMalveaux SrCarmon SrBrown JrRiley Jr SubsSmith JrFriedeu SrBrooks SrAppling JrThewman Sophand if it weren't for two transfers you probably would have seen a soph and a fresh in the starting lineup. ST413 Posted November 20, 2011 Report Posted November 20, 2011 Not sure about the two players Silsbee will have later in the year but the roster lasy friday only had two seniors. Kelton Gaines and a reserve.
