Central vs. Hardin-Jefferson    4pm
St. Pius vs. Beaumont West Brook  5:30pm
Silsbee vs. Kountze    7pm
Port Arthur Memorial vs. Ozen      8:30pm

Why is the best game 1st?  :o

I believe it goes without saying that the team that's hosting the event gets the play the last game or in some cases, at the best time (not too late and not too early).

I have seen all of these teams play and HJ and Central are the best. Ozen,PA Memorial are still in football (maybe St. Pius got better since they lost Saturday in football?)

It may have something to do with it being the "Fred Williams Classic". Fred Williams coached at Kountze, Silsbee, Hebert (Ozen) and West Brook. His son Travis is the current head coach at PAM. That is probably why the HJ/Central game is the lead game, no ties to those schools.

But, like Nash stated, it is pretty hard to decide in advance which game will end up being the best.

I agree that Central and HJ are 2 of the top 3 teams in this classic.

Does anyone see HJ losing any games this year? They are very very dominate. Beat the brakes off Kountze and Nederland by almost 40 and both of those schools are good.

Hj has a good team with large potential.  The basketball season is a long one and it is unrealistic to believe that a team can go through a season without losing a game.  I might add that they have lost to Central the last two or three years in the game that will be played Friday.  Also not so sure it is good at playoff time to have not lost a game.  It might very well be a disadvantage.

[/quote]Silsbee will not beat Kountze by 19.  It's a rival game and Kountze is not a bad team by any means.  Also, Memorial will not beat Ozen.  Ozen by 10.  They've played already and Ozen beat them by 20.

Nash you took the words right out of my mouth....I would rather go into the playoffs with having lost 3 or 4 games then having zero. It makes a team mentally tough with having the taste of defeat in the regular season.

Oh, and Ozen will beat PAM. Ozen has already defeated PAM by 16 earlier this year. ;)

But, then again, you "expected" Nederland to control the boards, Prudhomme to get in foul trouble  and Nederland to  beat HJ.  I have no illusions about the game against Central on Friday.  They are ranked number one in the area and rightfully so.  At the same time, I don't believe that they can take HJ lightly as some have done.
