Bullard made some bad plays ( 2 high snaps in WOS red zone) To me that was the turning pt of the game I was there and watch the game until mid 4th. WOS has good size to match up with CS but they have a lack of speed on defense. Your running back is fast and can turn on the drop of a dime. I think his fumbles today werent his normal playing style. (JMO) But TRUST me CS defense isn't like anything you guys have seen. I think BC and Lorena would have sent you guys home a long time ago. Hey its the playoffs and at this level anything can happen I hope its a good game without any injuries. Good luck to both sides. PS I know I will get dogged for this but JMO!!!
I don't recall WOS ever being called out for a lack of speed. Maybe they didn't get a chance to showcase it tonight....but I think you will find more than a couple guys that can cover some ground. I also have to disagree with you on BC sending us home. No disrespect to our fellow district mate but we sent them to face yall first by winning district. And I am glad you have that much respect for a 7-6 Lorena team. You ought to really enjoy this 10-3 team!!! I know CS has a great defense and I think that will really be a challenge for the Mustangs. However, doesn't the lack of offense concern CS fans a little? WOS defense might not be as good as CS but they are stout. I would bet the WOS defense will be the best that CS will have faced in the playoffs.
77 Posted November 27, 2011 Report Posted November 27, 2011 I read where Garrett had 300 yds against Lorena how many total yds did the offense put up? I think the team with the least mistakes takes this one. Goodluck to both teams.

belle-mere Posted November 27, 2011 Report Posted November 27, 2011 Dang, Ryker is asking a lot of good questions that people in the know are not answering. Ryker, the only one I feel competent enough to post on is the coaching edge. I think Thompson is filling big shoes pretty well, but Barbay is more experienced and has State Championship game experience, which logically gives him the edge. This Friday will tell. I have to retrack to say that I was not overly impressed with Barbay's coaching at last year's title game, but Carthage was head and shoulders above CS last year.
Guest jnunn Posted November 27, 2011 Report Posted November 27, 2011 I researched the football blogs, the polls, stats and numbers from the games as well as preseason and now will shake them up and let them fall. Just to be on the safe side and not upsetting anyone on what I forecast for their team I will use the national “forecast error†model. The forecast error is the difference between the actual value and the forecast value for the corresponding period. “Et = Yt – Ft†where E is the forecast error at period t, Y is the actual value at period t, and F is the forecast for period t. This will give me the measurement of the aggregate error. Good, I knew you would understand. I used a much similar formula when I got married January 1st, 1962, 50 years this January.I am not going to let my pride and support for the Trojans pry my mouth open and make some foolish statements that I would have to look back on as “stupidâ€. I think I will just stick to the stats of the game and what other medium football specialist think about the two teams and let you come to your own conclusions.Lets start with the MaxPreps Ranking: More to come next posting.Team National State 3-A RegionalColdspring 309 40 9 5West Orange Stark 1371 177 27 38Head Coaches Record: Coldspring Bryan Barbay 5yrs 40-14 WOS Cornel Thompson 1yr 10-3Last team meeting: 11-13-09 Coldspring 41 WOS 36
skipper Posted November 27, 2011 Report Posted November 27, 2011 i will say this for coach thompson he has big shoes to fill yes he dose BUT this guy has been around the block a few times as a coach and one of the best DC in the state and dose have rings on his fingers like dan hooks has so he is not new to this at all and on top of all this thompson is a very good friend of the cs coach friends a long time.
Actually I thought there seemed to be a lot more WOS in the stands today than on Bullards side. Come to think of it... WOS92 Posted November 27, 2011 Report Posted November 27, 2011 Coach T has coached WO-S in four state championship games, so he's got plenty of experience where that is concerned. As far as rankings go, they are pretty meaningless at this point in the year. I feel pretty darn good about our chances of beating CS.
Gasilla Posted November 27, 2011 Report Posted November 27, 2011 I don't make predictions, but CS is a running team and that plays right into the strength of the WOS defense. The CS QB was 1-8 with 4 INT's last night, they appear to be one dimensional. This game will be about matchups and I think WOS may have an advantage there. On the flip side, Salter did have 3 INT's on the day himself, but he also still had 3 TD's and well over 100 yds passing, I'm sure. He has 1800 yds passing for the season. Both teams have great running games, but WOS is anything but one dimensional.

They were never even behind in the game, in fact I don't think cs has trailed at all durring the playoffs (maybe in the bellville game). Overall cs has played much tougher opponents in the playoffs than wos. Bc and bellville could beat everyone one of wos opponents and lorena would beat Cleveland and Columbus. BTW lorena's 5 losses were to grandview (9-2), lampass (10-2), kennedale (8-4) la Vega (11-1), and Robinson (9-3). 4 of thier losses la vega, Robinson, kennedale, and lampass they lost by a combined 15 points. They were blownout by grandville in the 2nd game of the season. It's not like lorena was that bad of a team.
