Where there is smoke, there is fire. When there is a pattern then, it makes it a bit difficult for you to claim innocence now. Granted emotions run high, and sometimes get the best of the players, but when it persists over time and through coaching changes it kinda makes you wonder. It is unfortunate that a program as storied as LM continues to operate with such disorder. I'm certain that it is not all the kids, but a small group that cause the entire program to look bad, but that small group continues to do a really good job at portraying LM in a negative light.
There's a guy in WO who keeps great stats and he has us ranked high in several categories. One would think with all the success LM has, there would be a documented history of these occurrences. So what we at LM need from you is, please advise when all this "disorder" occurred. And for context sake, I'm referring to the football program, nothing else. The reason why I'm doing that is because you can search any ISD and find problems.
From your perspective, i'm sure you'll see it one way and I'll see it another. You are correct, no district or program is without problems, so let's talk about today. There was a great deal of trash talking both ways, but the loss of control and when things turned physical it was LM players that crossed the line. I'm sure that you go to most of your team's games as I go to most of Ozen's games. I have never in all my years of my watching panther football have I ever seen a team brawl like what occurred today. I have seen Lamarque play twice and both times I've seen the same type of behavior. I understand that 2 games is a small sample, but dude your 2 for 2 and according to other posters this was not an isolated occurrence. As a LM fan can you say that this a new thing for your program? Just curious, please enlighten me, since you feel I'm misinformed. I truly hate it for both programs as it is not a good look, and is not a good representation of either district.
You made a premise so like a thesis, it's your job to support it with facts, not generalities. I've been told the area around the Hamburger Depot by the college is a magnet for fights and drug usage. According to other posters this is not an isolated. See how that game can be played? All I'm asking for is specific examples. Other than today, what do you have to document LM football players regardless of fault, were involved in a brawl or melee before or after a game?
So you do get it! Actually it is know for such activity and there appears to be some truth to what you've heard about Hamburger depot/College street area. See how it works fella. I stated in my previous post that my two times watching Lamarque play I "witnessed" the same type of behavior. I also, noted that this was a small sample and then asked you to clarify if this is a true representation of the program that you follow.
I get it. You got called out and then tried to switch the subject. It's not happening. There was no brawl after the Lumberton game. There was a brawl after the Ozen game. There is 1 brawl. 1! So let's try it one more time because again, you made the premise with terms like "disorder" and "questionable behavior." Give us the examples. And to give you the history, I was sitting with the super (who is black) at the Lumberton game. He didn't care about the reason why our players refused to shake hands after the game. He saw a coach who refused to address it and well, you know.
I wasn't called out, I simply asked you to be honest. I told you about the behavior that I witnessed and asked a simple question. Your refusal to answer that question tells me that there may be an ugly truth that you wish to ignore. It appears that you are a graduate of the Ndamakin Suh school of spin, forgetting that it has all been witnessed by many. Does that mean that the people of LM are bad people as a whole? absolutely not. If what I witnessed of your team and also what the others who post similar accounts about LM is false then say so. Otherwise good night, congrats on your win, and I hope that nothing like this occurs again. - since this is the first time in Lamarque's history that there has been a brawl, i'm sure it won't happen again. ;)
Finally, you agree there are no other examples. Then you've must concur, perhaps your use of terms like "continues to operate is disorder" and "questionable behavior" was at best a reach. And I'm sure neither team will be involved in this type of thing again.
LOL! You still never answered my question. Good Night SUH
I don't have any idea what your trade or profession is, but I'm going to guess it's not lawyer. You're like a DA who makes an opening statement, provides no evidence, then ridicules the defendant for not taking the stand to help support the DA's case. And in typical fashion rather than admit you have nothing to support "disorder" and "questionable behavior" claims, you resort to name-calling, the admittance your premise is weak. If you recall, I didn't have to resort to any vacuity. It's been real sir.

gary-us-bonds
I have no reason to make stuff up.I like LaMarque and root for them every year.I don't have any affinity for Ozen at all.LM has kids getting suspended all the time, kicked off the team, coming back, suspended again. Getting into it with coaches. They have a lot of kids from Galveston that play for LM too, and Ball is always the same way. Always felt like I was going to need a police escort to get out of those games safely.Thy are just a little rougher around the edges than a lot of teams. Quit being so defensive about it, and just let it be what it is. Your credibility is waning the more you try and act oblivious to it.
WOSgrad
Well, here is my question. Why did the officials, coaches and administrations, knowing the atmosphere that had been brewing and at least at one point had boiled over into a brawl, insist on the handshake taking place? And please spare me well, "even after a spirited fight, it was one last attempt at sportsmanship" mumbo jumbo. What? Given what had happened, did folks think that one stroll to the middle of the field was going to change that? No, it just gave the two teams who had been going at each other all day another opportunity to take verbal and physical jabs at each other, an opportunity that they evidently took advantage of.It seems to me that the better course would have been to follow the example of the Columbus/West Orange-Stark game where coaches and officials decided that putting the teams once again in close proximity of each other was not a real good idea and no postgame handshake took place. Rockin A
I find it rather disturbing (but not surprising) that folks want to blame police officers for doing their job. Police officers are required to be officers of the law 24 hrs a day. Pepper spray is used to gain compliance and, at times, crowd control. Do you think, after seeing punches thrown and helmets being used as weapons, that the officers needed to gain compliance and control the crowd? If they sat on the sidelines and merely watched as some on this thread have said they should've done, then those same folks would be questioning why the officers didn't intervene when someone got hurt. Personally, after the videotape is reviewed, I'd like to see players involved on both sides suspended for a period of time. Yes, this would mean LM players would miss next week's game and ozen's players would miss some basketball games, but until discipline is forcefully instilled, things won't change. Regardless, don't be so quick to blame the police every time they do their job. Playing that card every time says a lot about the complainers, and quite frankly, not taken serious. Lastly, I'd say both districts were certainly represented well yesterday but not on the field. Unfortunately, players don't appreciate the fact they represent more than just themselves every time they put on a jersey. That goes for coaches, too. Does anybody know if any of the players who destroyed Barbers Hill locker room two weeks ago received any punishment?

The situation ad evidently become out of control of coaches and game officials, so law enforcement had to step in. I won't comment as to the force used as I was not there other than to say given the action that was taking place amongst almost 100 people, the I can't say that force sounds unreasonable. rykerx144
I am very proud of the officers involved and how they handled the incident. The officers stepped in at the point that over 100 17 and 18 year old men deceided to ignore offiicial and incite a brawl that included using thier fist, feet, cleets, and helmets as weapons to cause bodily harm to other individuals involved from the opposing team. According to the paper a small group of law enforcment used some force and pepper spray to get the incident under control and was able to do so in about 30 seconds with no serious injuries. A few eyes were irriated but that was it! Id say we need to thank the officers and commend them on a job well done! I have no problem with the officer holding the kid down with his forearm. I realize it might look bad but for anyone that thinks its over aggresive apparently has never delt with an unruly out of control 18 year old boy. For you that are hollering that it is just kids needs to relize. These are 18 year old men, if you dont believe that an 18 year old can be dangerous and cause harm to another person then take a look at the age of most of our countrys military! He said that school district policy states that the only way event officers would get involved in a "on field" fight, before, during or after a game, between uniformed players is if the coach, administrator, superintendent or any other school official ordered the police officers to intervene. He said that it is the responsibility of the coaches to control or intervene in any incidents involving players.
Weather yall want to agree with BWOOD or not he has stated the rules. Yes they may not be morally right in your eyes and everyone may not agree with them but they are the rules regardless. The question is did the Cops wait for the permission. If they did not then they need to be dealt with. Plain and simple. And to all of yall that are gonna say if the cops hadn't gotten involved and someone would've gotten hurt then everyone would be saying something different, We don't know that because it didn't happen. Rockin A
Police officers have permission the day they put on the uniform, VP. No administrator can prevent them from enforcing the law, regardless of what you think. Fighting, referred to as Assault in the Texas Penal Code, is against the law. However, I'm pretty sure security officers, on the other hand, can be told what they can and can not do. Based on what I read, Baytown Police Officers were at the game. I know some administrators believe they own every aspect of every school-related event, but that's just not reality.
thedogs1987
NEITHER LM or OZEN should move on in the next round of playoffs . (period)UIL should deal quickly and make this an example of WHAT NOT TO DO at sports events.NEITHER LM or OZEN showed SPORTSMANSHIP, whether who started it or not, that simply doesn't matter. They both acted and reacted, and both were using their EQUIPMENT (that is to be used in the field of play) as WEAPONS. Shame on them!!!Cops are not the issue, if that had been one of my sons, COPS would have been the least of their problems. My suggestion to UIL is that the next round team who would have played this winner gets a bye. Make a strong statement that this NOT acceptable, no matter the cost.I SAW firsthand in the NEDERLAND game last night, late hits by the other team, shots to our players head after plays. THE TRASH before the game by PDawson was disgraceful and their coach is responsible for their lack of respect and discipline. Good ridance to them, they were not the BETTER TEAM last night. Sometimes, LOSING shows more of who are, WINNING just proves it!!!

LaMarque was COMPLETELY CLASSLESS the ENTIRE game starting with the pre game warmups. Too much talking. I do realize I am an Ozen supporter and may seem biased, but it is what it is. I was on the Ozen sideline (as I've been every game) watching this unfold the entire contest. TOO MUCH TALKING from LaMarque. Too much extra activity after the plays were over. LaMarque you have a talented team. Honestly from what I saw of yall today I was disappointed.....1st in our play because this was NOT our best game. We could say it was the weather, which I think had a lot to do with it, but it is what it is. We lost. 2nd....your team was VERY undisciplined and were'nt being corrected for it. I think your team would finish 5th or worse in our district. You were NOT the best team we've seen all year. Not even 3rd best. BUT.....you won today. Congrats to you but you have left a VERY poor image of your program and players and we look forward to seeing you again next season...........bank on that. ;)
I'll say 2 things on this subject and i will leave it at that...First, If la marque is so called "classes" for defending themselves when the reffs werent doing it, then i guess Ozen is just as classless. If you stay the whole game then you remember that after the hand shake... the leading la marque players went toward the right side (from both your and my angle) of the end zone, while the leading ozen players walked towards the left... Soo if the fight happened in the middle of the field, doesnt that mean that BOTH players had to have confronted eachother?? You cant be so blind as to not see that your team was just as wrong as mine...Secondly, Any one of our top 3 teams of 24-4a can beat Ozen and we're #2. So how does that solidify us as a 5th place team in your district... You must be joking. Sounds to me like your just sucking on a lemon a little to hard, no offense. Sour losers never learn to be winners... remember that.
Don't bother wasting your breath because you aren't gonna get through to some folks over here especially Invictus because he's a whiner who trolls threads where Setx teams lose and instantly throws out the dirty adjective at all non Setx teams. As a matter of fact he accused Angleton of the same thing to such an extreme manner he got flagged by a moderator on the Ned/Angleton thread. Today he jumped on the Ozen/LM thread and stirred the pot there as well. He should really add "Jerry, Jerry" as his signature. As for the other dirty, undisciplined remarks that seem to be branded on our program since it's inception that's crapola! It's called envy and poor sportsmanship and to be quite honest a few over here need to learn how to deal with losing because some seem to do it quite often when they play LM. Those are the very same folks who will get on here and yak it up next week on here if Manvel takes us down. You don't get to or win as many State Championships being an undisciplined team as talent alone won't get you there.
First of all, genius, I am not a he. Secondly, if it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck, it is a duck. LaMarque is a dirty team and always has been. Period. It isn't something that can be denied. Personal fouls. Unsportsmanlike conduct. Bench-clearing brawls. Those are signs of a dirty, undisciplined team. I didn't make that up myself.
Your sex is of no importance to me...you still stir the pot when you have no dog in the fight therefore you're a habitual troller. I've got better things to do with my time than go back and forth with you over nonsense. I've made my point so I'm moving along. It's probably good to take my advice and do the same before you get reprimanded yet again. That would be 2 days in a row...have a good one. ;)
You're the one who started it. I call it like I see it. And if my gender is of no importance to you, don't use gender-specific pronouns. Do they not teach that at LaMarque?
Invictus - way off base. XLM has been and always will be class. PS - He is a non gender pronoun in case you did not know. From an english textbook "Gender bias can be interjected into language, and biased gender roles may be interjected into language. For example it is considered grammatically correct to use the pronoun he if gender is unknown." All are upset about this and both sides are stereotyping each other - stop! Learn and correct.
