Quirante is a great player, but how can the Defensive MVP not come from the district's best defense?  That doesn't make any sense to me.  Corbin Carr was the most dominant defensive player that I saw all season.
Wasn't Carr injured for some of the season?
No..............

Got no problem with that if you make Montana MVP. How are you a leader on both sides of the ball and not MVP? Totally agree with you. Seems to me the voting wasn't done according to the stats or the obvious for that matter. I have no idea what these individuals based the voting on but they didn't get it right. Period.

The coaches make these selections, I'm sure there was healthy discussion among them before voting.  Congrats to all the selections, they all deserve the honor.

Congrads to all these young men making the teams,  this is why SETX has such a rich tradition in football. If my addition is correct and my eyes worked right here is the school totals.
Nederland 18
Ozen 15
Vidor 12
PNG 10
Livingston 8
LCM 7
Lumberton 6
Central 4

I appologise if i missed anything but, what a outstanding showing from all our district.

I'm happy for the kids that made the all district team, but 80 players making all district, that's 10 players per team in an 8 team league, so half the league is all district ?  It just doesn't mean what it use to.
agree. we live in a world of entitlement.... everyone needs to be recognized

Exactly!  They did not get it right.  Period.  If a player dominates on both sides of the ball, they are the MVP.  Period.  The voting is biased and wrong.  If the coaches voted, they voted wrong.

Copied from Enterprise Article: "Here is the 20-4A All-District football team, as voted on by coaches.

District 20-4A All-District Football Team"

I'll take the opinions of the coaches who live this game on a daily basis over a bunch of Monday Morning Quarterbacks (myself included)  anyday... Congrats to all the selections.

How about Mays at 1st team FB? He played 2 district games. Don't get me wrong, if the young man were healthy he would have been district MVP, but he missed the final 5 games for Livingston (and they went 1-4 in those games!!!).
Livingston was undefeated untill the Nederland game?
oh nevermind got it but they were 2-3 give us credit hahaha

Again these are your opinions just as well as the coaches had their opinions. Continuing to go on and on about it won't change the coaches opinions nor will it change the outcome. GET OVER IT! I'm sure none of these kids are so concerned about it as the adults are. I could honestly see if there was a full ride scholarship or something to that affect tagged along with the nominations but all it is is a picture in the newspaper and something else for the adults to argue about. All of these kids had a great season and I don't think that it takes a coach's vote to tell them that. Some people on this site go to sleep bitter, wake up bitter and be bitter all day long. I won't slight any kid because of my opinion. Congratulations again to the kids on a job well done.

Where is the Kimler kid from Nederland? I was only able to make it to 2 games this year but thought he was the better looking WR out of the bunch. IMO

I would probably agree with you on that.  Quirante was the straw that stirred the drink for the Pirates this year.

We could have every player from every team make all-district and we would still squabble over which team they should have made.

None of the picks were politically motivated. They were picked for who they thought was best. Maybe no one should make all-district.

If a player's name is even mentioned among the great players we had in 20-4A this year, they should be proud indeed. What a great district we have!

Congrads on the all district selections.  Even thoug my Jags only produced 4 players, I'm very proud to say that I've gotten a chance to see all of our area young men mix it up. Also, all this bickering over who should have been in the selection is bull.  I have no problems with the selections.  You can never go wrong with the MVP, OMVP, or DMVP.  Those guys put in work and now are being commended for it.    Good luck at the next level/next year.

I am not really surprised by the number.  At Nederland's end of the year sports awards football hands out what seems to be about ten awards and of course the male athlete of the year is always going to come from the football team.  All other sports hand out one award for their sport.  It may be because there are more players on football but then again the JV get's letter jackets for practicing when  Nederland makes the playoffs.  I am assuming most of the AD/Football Coaches put the emphasis and special treatment on the football team.  All District has been watered down for years but it is still a way to honor players who work hard.

no debate on the offensive mvp? lol
I was just thinking the same thing. IMO it should've gone to Chase Bertand or Montana Quirante. Those were the leading scorers in the district. Jayce wasn't even in the top 5.
but he was one of the most feared if not most feared player in the district...and had the most recieving yards by a long shot...was double and triple covered this year and still had a 1000 yards recieving...i think they got that one right

Gotta agree! The kid snatched the ball out of the air when you thought forsure it was gonna be a lawn dart. Hard to get those numbers in triple coverage unless your just an mvp caliber player.
But, I've always been partial to recievers.lol

    • Virginia has same day voter registration. A person can literally walk in to the voting location, register and then vote. So the premise that Virginia might be stopping people with a legitimate right to vote is nonsense. From what I gather in the news report, assuming that the ones I have read are correct, the people that were removed, filled out a drivers license registration and marked that they were not an American citizen. Could the person have made a mistake bychecking the box incorrectly? Although unlikely it is certainly possible. That same person who was removed can go into the same voting location where he would have voted and again, complete a voter registration and then vote.  That went into the Supreme Court’s decision.  If such a person votes by registering on election day, he fills out a provisional ballot. Provisional ballots are not originally counted and or not counted unless needed. For example….  Statewide there are 500 provisional ballots cast. A person wins the election by 4,000 votes. That would be no need to count the provisional ballots as it will not matter. Then let’s say there are 5,000 provisional ballots cast in the election. One candidate then wins the election by only 1,500 votes. In that case, the election could definitely swing on those provisional ballots. The state will then investigate each person to make sure they live at the correct address listed and that they are American citizens. If these things are correct, the vote will then be counted. Safe Harbor is not untillll…… I think December 17th this year so there will be six weeks to verify the provisional ballots if needed. The purging of the names of people who checked a state form saying that they were not an American citizen, will not stop that same person from voting.
