The 6'4" football kid (Couron) hurt his shoulder, but not serious. Kimler came in and provided valuable minutes. That kid is an athlete, and he's just a Sophomore. He played both safety AND receiver this year on Varsity. They will both be a huge asset to the team as the season progresses.

Not yet. Nobody scored a lot (with it being a low scoring game). Weisbrod scored 15-16 w/10-12 boards, but struggled with his shot. I think English had 10, then others scored 4-8 each. The 3 ball would not fall tonight, or it would have been a wider margin of victory struggled at the FT line too. Not a great 2nd half by the Dawgs, but a win is a win!  :)

Dove, did you by any chance play at Wheatley?  I remember a Jackie Carr coached team coming to Beaumont in the early 70's to play a team that a close friend of mine coached.  I can still remember Mr. Carr walking along the bench and choosing his starters(one of whom was Eddie Owens) just minutes before the game started.

Dove, did you by any chance play at Wheatley?  I remember a Jackie Carr coached team coming to Beaumont in the early 70's to play a team that a close friend of mine coached.  I can still remember Mr. Carr walking along the bench and choosing his starters(one of whom was Eddie Owens) just minutes before the game started.
[/quote]Funny, a friend of mine brought up Eddie's name to me  last night. I still consider Eddie "Mauchie" Owens one of the best players to come out of Wheatley. I was recruited away from Wheatley and played against him. We all lived in the same neighborhood off Waco St/I-10 area.

He is #14. I can tell he was rusty last night, just coming back from football and all. I can see a lot of promise in this group of kids. We played really good last night considering the missed free throws and 3 point shots.

I agree Abe, I wouldn't bet against it yet! Nederland is not playing nearly as good right now as they will be when they're running on all cylinders!
