Dallas Kimball and the other ranked school they played good thru the first halves. Like I predicted, Silsbee wasn't going to play too good against Legacy (?). Hard to get up mentally after playing at a higher level. Silsbee knows what it takes to play at a higher level. But, you also have to learn to play at high levels against lesser teams. If Silsbee figure this out, it will be hard for HJ to stop them this year ;)
FanintheStands Posted December 8, 2011 Report Posted December 8, 2011
The point is that it doesn't matter who has the better legs right now. They will both be in great shape for the HJ Silsbee game. That's the biggest game of the season for them! They could play 3 games that night against each other if they wanted too.
I disagree. Those games are SO intense, those players leave everything on the court when the games are over. That's why these marathon tournaments are gold for HJ.
BLUEDOVE3 Posted December 8, 2011 Report Posted December 8, 2011 HJ legs will be tired by January especially after Silsbee make them play man to man defense ;)
HJ2012 Posted December 8, 2011 Report Posted December 8, 2011
HJ legs will be tired by January especially after Silsbee make them play man to man defense ;)
HJ, as we all know does not use the Universal Offseason like other schools do. They've had from after the Regional Tournament last year, up to now to prepare for this season. HJ's Basketball players run cross country during football season to get ahead of the game and start to build endurance and get their "legs" before most schools step onto the hardwood. HJ has the most athletic team this year that they've ever had, if not the most athletic team they've had in a long time. Every person on the team is a threat to score if left open, including what people sometimes refer to as the "bomb squad" who got lots of playing time in the Aransas Pass tournament. HJ has played some man to man defense this year, but they will always be known for their physical, in-your-face 1-3-1-1 zone defense. They have no problem adjusting to the officiating and adjusting to the other teams physicality, always matching how their opponent is playing. As far as HJ's "weak" schedule is concerned, they know that they are moreover playing against themselves. I.M.O., that's all basketball is. Can you be more sound than your opponent? HJ has been extremely sound this year, and never settles. Even with the twenty point win over LCM tuesday, they were not satisfied. Against Silsbee, they will not be satisfied with a win, rather satisfied with playing the best they can play, regardless of the score. HJ will never be satisfied until they have gold medals hanging around their necks in Austin. So, as for who they play? HJ doesn't really care, they respect all opponents, and all they care about is being the best they can be.

BADSANTA Posted December 8, 2011 Report Posted December 8, 2011 Didnt HJ have a large lead of 12 points vs Silsbee last year on the road?
sleepy Posted December 8, 2011 Report Posted December 8, 2011 Yes. Doesn't matter much this year. Silsbee will build large leads in both games and force HJ to play man and in these instances the lead will only get larger due to Silsbee's superior athletes and basketball players.

Trojanfan Posted December 12, 2011 Report Posted December 12, 2011 I've been knowing Jim Hicks at RCS Sports for about 6 or 7 years, he is a houston area basketball pimp, he mostly pimps teams from the Houston innercity area, never giving credit to any team outside of there, I take his predictions and his player profiles with a grain of salt, he's a typical AAU idiot, show me one kid outside the greater Houston area that he really has ranked high or a team that he has in his top ten in the past 5 years.

I do know he had DeCarlos Frank on the front cover a few years ago. To be honest with you, if more teams & players get out of S.E.Texas for exposure, maybe he would have more teams ranked in his magazine. And Let me tell you something I know from personal experience, he has gained major influence this year with some major heavy hitters in promoting area players, ESPN for example. And he has major influence with some of the major D1 schools your son or daughter would love to attend ;)
