Guest UHCoog14 Posted December 9, 2011 Report Posted December 9, 2011 http://www.kwtx.com/home/headlines/135314213.htmlMART (December 9, 2011)—An early Friday morning house fire in Mart has destroyed the home where the local high school quarterback lives on the day of a championship game.Regina Green and her family were able to escape the flames that gutted the single-story wood-frame home at 1208 East Texas Ave., without injury.Firefighters were sent to the address at about 5:30 a.m. and found the house fully engulfed in flames.In all 10 people escaped the house; six adults and four children.It took firefighters from Mart, Leroy, Riesel and Elk about half an hour to bring the blaze under control.Mart High School senior quarterback Leonard Williams is set to lead the Panthers against Stamford in the state championship semi-final game tonight at 7:30 p.m. in Brownwood.A MHS coach was at the scene early Friday to pick Williams up.They later boarded a bus with the rest of the team for the trip to Brownwood.Firefighters believe the blaze was sparked by an electric space heater but the cause remained under investigation Friday morning.
MEM Posted December 9, 2011 Report Posted December 9, 2011 It is sad but it's also great to know that no lives were lost...Even in the midst of this unfortunate accident it looks like that family has alot to be thankful for...It will be tough for them this close to the holidays but the house can be replaced...God bless and best wishes to the family as they try to regroup...
