We are at the Christmas Break! That means it's time to start seeing some schedules posted, preliminary area rankings, and last but not least... returning lineup projections.

For example:

Projected starting lineups by position, # of returning position starters w/ a brief highlight, # of returning starting pitchers w/ the projected #1, #2, & #3 starter if anygood... and finally the projected season outlook... you know, like we do with football.

Ca- (ex.) Joe Smo, 2011 1st Team all-district
1B-
2B-
3B-
SS-
LF-
CF-
RF-
Pitchers:
1.
2.
3.

Outlook:  Lots of returning experience. Return top 2 pitchers, field and hit the ball well.  Will likely finish in first or second place.

Let's get the ball rolling with something to talk about during the break!

BRENHAM CUBS

1B (Probably Eric Stegent when he's not pitching)
2B
SS
3B Garrett Webb
C Ryan Newmann
LF Shea Nutt (when he's not on the mound, he'll be starting somewhere else on the field)
CF Dayne Wunderlich
RF Jesse Baker

Pitchers
1. Kevin Kubeczka (Not sure who's 1 & 2 between Kevin & Eric)
2. Eric Stegent
3. Shea Nutt

Key Losses: SS Drake Roberts- Oklahoma, P Ty Schlottmann- Texas A&M, CF Chance Bolcerek- Texas A&M, 1B Colton Wall- Angelina.

Outlook: We lost a lot, but we return great pitching, and big time player in Jesse Baker.  We will be looking to make our 29th straight playoff appearance.  If we can navigate through the gauntlet known as 17-4A, we will contend for our 4th straight regional title. (It would also mark Brenham's 17th tourney appearance, and possible 8th state championship) First thing's first, and we need to take things one game at a time.  It's a long season and in order to be successful this year, we will need several newcomers to step up.  With that being said, this is Brenham and we will look to reload, not rebuild.

thanks pats.

Im confused why the JV GCM and BH only ever play once? They did the same thing last year, seems like that would be one series you would ensure gets played twice yearly.
Never even noticed that. Interesting. I'll ask around.

That's what my first thought was, but it is strange that BH/GCM seem to play that week the last two years. Luck of the draw I guess.
Once realignment is done the baseball DISTRICT schedule does not change for 2 years with one exception. Instead of playing the team home first in the first round of district, you play away first. next year will change though with redistricting.

I know. TAKS is not always the same week. It's just a strance coincidence.

There are some grumblings that BH will go further East in realignment (20-4a) I don't see it happening, but some people in the "know" are not so certain. It would be a better demographic fit for BH, but not a better geographic alignment.
