Good at sports or good sportsmanship !!!

Recommended Posts

The title of this thread is Good at sports or good sportsmanship !!!

Diehardaggie asks the question as if they are mutually exclusive of one another. I think that for most student athletes, they go hand in hand. Everyone would like to succeed in sports but if given the option of being a failure in life but good in sports or vice versa, where do you think they would choose? No one is going to say that they would like to be a high school star for a couple of years and then fail the rest of their life.

I have read thousands of posts in this forum and have never seen anyone make a statement that life is not important, sports mean everything or anything else of that nature. I have never seen anyone mention their own illustrious high school career as if someone should be in awe.

If you started a poll on is it more important to succeed in life or high school athletics, where do you think it would be. I am sure that it will be at 100% that life is more important although you will always have some clowns vote the opposite just to play devil's advocate.

It seems like diehard is trying to make an argument that does not exist. If all he wants to do is make a comment that sports are fun but life is more important, I do not think that anyone would disagree.

My perspective of his original post was that he felt like there are a lot of people who come on this forum and relive their high school glory. I might be wrong, but that's sort of the way I took it.

That is the way it looks Bobcat but who is he talking to? Who are the people in here that are reliving their glory days?

I very seldom mention the time several years ago when I scored 4 touchdowns in one game and made 4A player of the week for the whole state. Without that last touchdown, we would have lost the district title but do you hear me talking about it? I could really care less if no one remembers it. I know that I was in all the papers and that is what mattered.

CAVEAT: Anyone that remotely believes the preceding statement, I have some land to sell you at the beach just as soon as the tide goes out.
