why would HJ and SILSBEE, 2 of the 3A power house schedule below average 1A EVADALE???? This makes no since, do they really think they will get something out of this game??

I think it was a courtesy to Evadale.  As in giving the Rebels some experience against an upper class 3A team.  For Silsbee, it's better than to just keep practicing against the
bench or against the JV.

[/quote] ok first off Evadale only played HJ last year, and they played after only having 2 days to practice b/c they had just got out of the 3rd round of the football playoff, if they would had played later in the year it would have been a different game... and no lamar is still a D1 school, and idk maybe someone that will make it a game not a killing

I've said it once, and I will say it again.  I could careless about a district championships, or beating a team in the regular season.  You play 30+ games to prepare for a 6-7 game season.  Last year Evadale was the only one from this area that got to play more than 4 games.

This game was more like the Corsicanna game  ;D You knew who was gonna win but the underdog gave them everything they could :)

Just like he said this is more of a measuring stick for evadale just like Dallas Kimball and south oak cliff were measuring sticks for Silsbee. Plus silsbee will continue to get to use all of their to help get and keep them ready for district. And plus Silsbee has Navasota next after that. Believe  it or not Navasota uses Silsbee to prepare them for hj because they always face hj and can never beat them and Hj will not play Navasota in the regular season I heard that from coach t last year before he left Silsbee.

or.....how about a more simple solution....all three schools had dates that they couldn't get filled and they matched up, contacted each other and agreed to play since playing a game is better than not playing a game.

Its a scrimmage with refs, uniforms, etc, etc, etc. Gives Evadale a chance to play up and prepare for post-district play ;)

Got to love posts ABOUT Evadale!

In football we get hammered because we don't play anybody in a district that we don't get to pick. We play 2 2A teams and 2 1A Division 1 teams and a larger private school. But we have to explain why we have the schedule we do?

In basketball we are getting hammered because we are playing too tough schools. Evadale has already played 4A Vidor so whats the big deal about a couple of 3A teams. The reason you play tough teams is to get better. Evadale played tough teams last year and made it to the State Semi Final game and in all likelyhood should have won the state championship.

Coaches make schedules, they look to fill holes so they can play the maximum number of games allowed. They don't get to pick district teams, but they get to choose who they play out of district. It is just that simple and Silsbee and HJ can play reserves or not, Evadale will play their starters and their reserves, because that is what you do to get better. The Rebels have 3 games before district starts and they want to play the best competition they can. Doing that gives them the best opportunity to be successful in district and beyond.

Someone said Evadale could have said no, well so could Silsbee and HJ. So I guess all three coaching staffs must believe that something good can come out of these games!
