scnorman Posted January 11, 2012 Report Posted January 11, 2012 Crosby hired their new coach tonight but he can not officially start until February 1st. He told some of the players that he would still be around before Feb 1st. Got to meet him and his family and they seem like really good people. Some of the players talked to him and they seem to like him. He told them he is fired up about coming here and really got their attention when he showed them his state champoinship ring. IMO a great hire but lets see. I know the boys are ready for him.
WOSgrad Posted January 11, 2012 Report Posted January 11, 2012 Is it Coach Jeff Riordan from Sulphur Springs?
the_dude_abides Posted January 11, 2012 Report Posted January 11, 2012 That's a hire that should make things interesting.
COUCH TATER Posted January 11, 2012 Report Posted January 11, 2012 Listed as the Offensive Coordinator on Sulfur Springs ISD website.
bh89-2 Posted January 11, 2012 Report Posted January 11, 2012 Sulfer Springs has had some good teams. That could be interesting. He's definately got a few good players to work with, unless their family closes on the two new homes in BH this month. ;)
Guest UHCoog14 Posted January 11, 2012 Report Posted January 11, 2012 The best time to be the new football coach is before the season starts.Good Luck Coach Riordan.
WOSgrad Posted January 11, 2012 Report Posted January 11, 2012 Congratulations to Coach Riordan and welcome to Southeast Texas!

mytwocents-28 Posted January 11, 2012 Report Posted January 11, 2012 IMO Crosby was one of the most talented teams that underachieved last year. Hopefully this new coach will turn it around. I look forward to a possible rematch this year. Congrats Crosby.
Guest 58SHW Posted January 12, 2012 Report Posted January 12, 2012 General question. When these openings come available, coaches apply, schools hire. Can the new coach start work at the new school immediately (middle of semester) at mid term or must wait til the school year is over?

Head coaches can start normaly as soon as they are hired. They are not under your typical teaching contract. New Offensive and Defensive Coordinators are usually on campus at semester change. Football has a TON of pull in this state.

rschuldt Posted January 12, 2012 Report Posted January 12, 2012 Congrats to Crosby on the new coach! Just a thought: I bet that ring is from 2008 when they beat us (Dayton) in the Alamodome ;)

Guest Coach4life Posted January 20, 2012 Report Posted January 20, 2012 What all does Crosby have coming back? I know Coach Riordan will get the most out of the Cougars and He will also be a great asset to the community there. I heard him speak at a clinic and He is very intelligent and passionate. Good Luck Coach Riordan. Crosby got a great one.

bigplay Posted January 23, 2012 Report Posted January 23, 2012 How did the lower classes do at Crosby? Looking at the numbers Riordan has done a good job of scoring points at Sulphur Springs. Looks like he has two solid weapons with the Walter kids.
