BLUEDOVE3 Posted January 13, 2012 Report Posted January 13, 2012 After careful analysis and a little *homeboy* research, sorry to say (for HJ fans) HJ will not win tonite. Not that I am saying I want HJ to lose. But here are my reasons why HJ will probably lose tonite:A. HJ has not had a close game all year. Are they really that good or as some suspect, a light schedule to rest those track weary legs. Will HJ go into panic mode when this game is close?B. Silsbee has been in the trenches all year long. Knows how to play in tight games. Has played in several big games already this year.Silsbee wins this one tonite. ;)
stevenash Posted January 13, 2012 Report Posted January 13, 2012 Will the losing margin for HJ be double digit?

BLUEDOVE3 Posted January 13, 2012 Author Report Posted January 13, 2012 Yeah, yall may have have the players feeling a little bit too confident. Hmmm, I should have used this one as another why HJ will lose.
FanintheStands Posted January 13, 2012 Report Posted January 13, 2012 Thanks, Dove. You just saved me $5.00 and the hassle of sitting in a crowded gym only to watch my Hawks lose.I appreciate the heads up.Of course, maybe HJ hasn't been in a close game because they are that dam good!
stevenash Posted January 13, 2012 Report Posted January 13, 2012 No close games. The victory over Kingwood Park (who recently beat a ranked 4-a team) was, I think, 9 points. Hmmm- I wonder why their winning margins are usually not small- Oh, yes, thats it- its the schedule - But I was thinking that when you beat Nederland, Central, Kingwood Park and Jacksonville, you have ostensibly beaten everyone they have beaten?

setxbbfan Posted January 13, 2012 Report Posted January 13, 2012 Simply stated - TRADITION DOES NOT GRADUATE -Silsbee has a history of crumbling late-A few years ago Silsbee was 30 something and 0 and lost in the first roundYears later-they lose in the regional finalsThe next year they get knocked out even earlierThis was with good teams - HJ prevailed in these situationsI can speak with experience bc my team did the same thing - we were good-went to Austin and got murdered. Tradition is difficult to beat. Those HJ kids and Silsbee players saw all of this when they were youngsters-combine that with coaching and HJ wins-no doubt.
BADSANTA Posted January 13, 2012 Report Posted January 13, 2012 I agree! Silsbee has crumbled in the playoff MANY times! BUT hopefully not tonight. There is a reason why HJ is 27-0 and we will see if it's due to a soft schedule or that much talent tonight.
BADSANTA Posted January 13, 2012 Report Posted January 13, 2012 Why do people give Silsbee coaches such a bad case. Doesn't Silsbee have a alltime winning record vs HJ?

During warmups, you can't help but wonder if HJ can even stay within 25 points of Silsbee. And yet, the games are always an all out war.

Have you seen St.Pius' team? Yeah they boast some hyped up players on that team bur no major team.Jacksonville beat Lufkin by a few. Lufkin is athletic with football players, not basketball type players. Lufkin has no guards and no real bigs. I still stand by my prediction ;)

Kingwood Park beat 4-a ranked Humble and Jacksonville beat (at the time) #1 3-a ranked Mexia by 25. You had better pray that HJ loses because if they don't, you won't hear the end of it.

BADSANTA Posted January 13, 2012 Report Posted January 13, 2012 U know my feelings on that SteveNash.
2-2-1 Posted January 13, 2012 Report Posted January 13, 2012 To be quite honest I can't wait for this game to be over with. This forum is becoming nothing but HJ and Silsbee, and it's getting rather annoying. I can't wait to see the game but I'll be glad when it's over too.
setxslam Posted January 13, 2012 Report Posted January 13, 2012 I'm sure it will be a battle, but I'd be shocked if HJ doesn't win. HJ has won in that gym with teams that looked more like the Chess club or UIL Math or Science team (and, in fact, made do with quite a few players who were better at academics than basketball, even some great kids who weren't gifted in anything). Let's see how HJ does tonight with players who actually look like basketball players. Silsbee, brace yourselves, and behold the power of Coach Sutherland's fully-operational Death Star!
BADSANTA Posted January 13, 2012 Report Posted January 13, 2012 Didn't General Acbaar and Lando Calrissian destroy the Death Star?
setxslam Posted January 13, 2012 Report Posted January 13, 2012 Ha! Fair enough-- Silsbee's got a fighting chance. Keep hope alive, baby!
