Rivalry

I am upset that my Hawks lost to Silsbee tonight but does anyone agree with me that this is the best rivalry in high school basketball in this area?

It is a three ring circus at times, but DEFINITELY the best rivalry I have ever seen!  Love the atmosphere and the intensity, but don't know how much more I can take!

With it being such a great rivalry and people flooding the place from both schools , I think it would be awesome if this game was played at the Montagne. Think about, instead of turning people away an hour before the game, u can probably sell out the Montagne. Imagine 10,000 strong watching that game and imagine the money both schools can make.    Besides it's not really home court advantage when it's split down the middle with both fans.  All I'm saying is just show the state how BIG this rivalry really is!

definitely a solid rivalry, no doubt. another one to look at though that goes WAY back is the big sandy v goodrich rivalry. unbelievable games between two traditionally rich basketball schools year in and year out.

I am sure the crowd would be bigger but I doubt you would sell out the Montagne.  I kinda like the idea but like was said tonight it would take some of the fun out of it.  Wouldn't be near as loud in such a bigger place.

Hey, I'm all for it.  But I really doubt that the H-J coaching staff and AD will give up their home court on the second round game.  Then, any playoff is usually
played on a neutral court.

The same discussion is going on over on the football forum regarding moving the Ned/PNG football game to Beaumont as well. Most people don't want it bc of the tradition of playing at each other's stadiums. The game usually draws around 10-15k each year, but I'm guessing 20k may attend if played on a neutral field on a Saturday.

It was so bad this year that a (non-football) head coach from Nederland was unable to get into the game until after half time (game was at The Reservation).

Silsbee gym was sold out before 530. This means there were people who were on campus right after school let out. How many people does HJ gym hold. Silsbee holds 1500 which isn't a lot at all.

Silsbee's gym holds 1550. HJ's gym capacity is 1050.

It don't have to be the Montagne. It can be at ford park, heck kountze and hj played there. Plus with both gyms not holding at least 2,000 and their being at least 3,000 people that care bout attending this game.  Cause what if a parent doesn't get in, r they suppose to leave work early?

Dove you know who I was referring to and if he cant keep his job then there is no way it can be a rivalry.  Sorry - pitiful 3A HJ & Silsbee are the talk of the town and the only legitimate threats to make it to Austin.

[/quote]Thats fiction.  Central's old coach didn't lose his job because of continuous losses to Ozen.  He lost his job due to a string of in game and offgame altercations with parents and fans.

[/quote]Are you saying that it's ok to curse a parent out in the middle of a varsity game?  Is it o to meet a fan at mid court after a game  bumping shoulders and using obscenities in front of kids?  Is it ok to get into it in the stands with a parent in a non Central basketball event?  Would this NOT warrant a firing in Big Sandy, Catman?
