coachacola Posted January 14, 2012 Report Posted January 14, 2012 Also heard a rumor that Woodard's days are numbered. Anyone else hearing that?

ForeverADog Posted January 14, 2012 Report Posted January 14, 2012 I have heard that. And that he needs a good season this year. Another 4 win season may mean his last.
Guest beechnut Posted January 14, 2012 Report Posted January 14, 2012 I briefly met Coach Woodard last year and was impressed with him as a man from what I seen. I had season tickets last year and just think it takes three to five years to build a program. Not sure that he has that long but hope he does. He is bringing in some good looking kids and hopefully they can do better next year.
coachacola Posted January 14, 2012 Report Posted January 14, 2012 I want Woodard to be successful. I still say all he needs to do is hire a good OC and DC and he'll be just fine.
Guest EagleFan01 Posted January 15, 2012 Report Posted January 15, 2012 Woodards days aren't numbered he just got an extension earlier this year.
geezer Posted January 16, 2012 Report Posted January 16, 2012 A losing teams coach's days are always numbered, it is just how long will the money people put up with it. At the beginning of most new coach's tenure we say give them 4 to 5 years to get their players and their system in place, but that is not always the case. Turner Gil at Kansas only got two years.
RealDB33 Posted January 17, 2012 Report Posted January 17, 2012 Woodard has a good DC in Allen Johnson, he just needs actually let him do his job!!! As far as Woodards days being numbered I would say he has another 2-3 years......maybe.
WOSgrad Posted January 19, 2012 Report Posted January 19, 2012 Don't know if Whitten is going, but we now know he is not going to Victoria:http://blog.beaumontenterprise.com/inthecards/2012/01/18/whitten-not-a-finalist-for-high-school-job/

ForeverADog Posted January 19, 2012 Report Posted January 19, 2012 Poor Whitten. I guess he may just have to put up with being an OC another year. I thought he wasn't too bad last year, our defense was just plain terrible. Sad that we had 3 DC and none of them could help us stop anyone.

I agree that our defense couldn't stop anyone but some of that was due to lack of discipline also.....

If Woodard doesn't realize how the bad the defense was last year and keeps doing the same then it's going to be a long year. Does anyone know if Woodard plans to name a DC and let them control the defense?
