WOSgrad Posted January 19, 2012 Author Report Posted January 19, 2012 From the rule which is stated, he probably got T'd up twice in a game and was ejected.
WOSgrad Posted January 19, 2012 Author Report Posted January 19, 2012 It is not a real big deal folks, like the article said, he got the minimum penalty for it.
AggiesAreWe Posted January 19, 2012 Report Posted January 19, 2012 There is a minor mistake in the article. The game was against Dayton but was not in Dayton. The game was in the HJ tourney.
Dick Vitale Posted January 19, 2012 Report Posted January 19, 2012 It is VERY minor...He will have to attend the C.O.P.E. meeting this summer during the THSCA convention. Other than being bored to death in the meeting, thats the extent of it! This is not something that Coach Joubert does regularly, so, I am certain its just an isolated incident. No big deal.
BADSANTA Posted January 19, 2012 Report Posted January 19, 2012 Is this something that happens often in coaching? Joubert from what I hear is a real nice guy. Maybe just got caught up in the moment. Stuff happens man.

I spoke with other coaches that day at another tourney and they were just as surprised. From what I was told, the ejection was very bogus. Some very sensitive officiating in that situation.
BADSANTA Posted January 19, 2012 Report Posted January 19, 2012 Hope those "sensitive" refs never do another game in SETX

5GallonBucket Posted January 19, 2012 Report Posted January 19, 2012 he go teed up by the father son combo

wwball Posted January 19, 2012 Report Posted January 19, 2012 It is a shame the refs that ejected him do not have to answer to anybody. The system has to change.
Dick Vitale Posted January 19, 2012 Report Posted January 19, 2012 One thing that we must realize here is that refs are human...Some are a bit more sensitive than others, and coaches usually know who can take how much and when to back off. I am not sure HOW this particular situation unfolded, but knowing Coach Joubert, I am sure it will be a one time thing. It happens to the best of them.

One ref in particular, that I saw call quite a few games last year, either threatened or followed thru and ejected somebody from every single game. One thing I can say, is that he was even handed. He tossed people from every side of the court.
whsalum Posted January 19, 2012 Report Posted January 19, 2012 This is a rule that needs changing. I could possibly see this in a district or playoff setting but the officiating in some our local tournaments just isn't good enough to be able to delegate these type penalties.I've watched Duane coach for years and while he sometimes gets upset and gets his point across I've never seen him doing anything that warrants ejection.
Team Game Posted January 19, 2012 Report Posted January 19, 2012 This is a shame. IMO having two different officiating groups is to blame. Both the coaches and the officials get upset about using different chapters. The coaches have the chapter they like better and sometimes these things get in the way of actually calling the game.
uandme08 Posted January 19, 2012 Report Posted January 19, 2012 Off base I'm sure but is this the same UIL that turned both cheeks on the Ozen/LaMarque incident? I'm sorry I had to ask.....
Dick Vitale Posted January 19, 2012 Report Posted January 19, 2012 That was my initial thought too!! However, when it comes to coaches, there is a standard that coaches are held to. Although it was total crap, they HAD to act because of the rules that are in place. As far as the Ozen/Lamarque fiasco, I am not sure that they did anything about that, yet, but I am sure the districts have watched the films and disciplined the students accordingly...(being optimistic) 8)

BADSANTA Posted January 19, 2012 Report Posted January 19, 2012 That father and son duo needs to only do Middle school and little dribblers games.
Guest speechless Posted January 20, 2012 Report Posted January 20, 2012 More important than who the refs were or what happened is the fact that someone actually thought this was news or post worthy. What happened in this situation both before and after the ejection is nothing that doesn't happen everywhere across the state....yet, somehow here it is deemed news worthy. Sad.
