Any Re-alignment Rumors Out There?

La Marque did not opt up this time around.  The opt up decision of the various schools was released earlier this week.  They will be in 3A.

Yeah they really fell off bad in hoops after going to the state tourney last year...They are still solid in football though, right? What is the talk in Silsbee about this possibly happening next year? I mean, it can't be something people are looking forward to..

If these schools are dropping down due to actual attendance numbers being 3A now, and if they are not doing any funny business with transfers, then why should any current 3A powers (WOS, Silsbee, etc in football) (HJ, Silsbee, etc in basketball) be concerned?  Numbers are numbers; talent is talent; good coaching is good coaching right?

Or is there something else I'm missing?

Well, I haven't seen any of those who support any of the schools named above, either in football or in basketball, express any concern about their potential new region mates.

I heard (I'm making this up) that Silsbee is converting the lifting program to a boxing program so the players will be prepared to face LaMarque - and the consequences - in any regional competition.  ;) :D

Don't forget that it was only 2 years ago that Humble and Galv Ball (I know they stink this year) were 5A. Although Yates and LaMarque are moving down a class, there easily could be another good 5A program moving down to 4A as well.

Yeah, there will be a few from HISD...Madison (my alma mater ;)), Bellaire, and Westside are the only three HISD schools that still have true 5A numbers.
