And the 99-0? That was the score only because the scoreboard could hold 2 digits per team.
mfd814
The coach at Goodrich, would not press the whole game, but he wil play defense, has 8 players that play year round. If they make a mistake they get pulled. Very disciplined team. Would you rather Chester forfeit at the half, so you won't feel so bad or play to try to improve on something. What's worse, getting beat or quitting?

How do you do this to another team. I cant stand teams that dont have a heart and purposely run up the score on an obvious poor team. That isnt basketball.[/quote] Goodrich dont have coaches they have one. They have got 7 player on the team Coach King never will say anything if he get beat bad like that.Never will say a word about it. AHUDDLESTON
99 - 0 was the final score. OF scored with under a minute to go when the score was 93 - 0. The fans for OF were chanting we want a hundred and they missed the extra point. I was there.

baddog
Gee, and Dean Smith would have gone to the four corners with a two point lead and five minutes left. Imagine a fifty point lead at half what would he have done.

I don't have to be there to know that Chester is not as good as Goodrich and the Goodrich coach should not have to apologize for a large victory margin and how it was accomplished. whsalum
No reason to get beat that bad where you don't have a shot clock, let the air outta the ball for christ sakes. There are always ways to stop the bleeding. In all seriousness I wonder if Chester ever considered consolidating with Colmesneil. They could form a respectable school district in a hurry. snooker
sportsmanship. ... got nothing to do with a coach or kids " getting better" . there will always be a pitiful team with a pitiful coach that does not want to be there anyway. -- now that said - if chester is not going to get back on defense and just give up layups...maybe i can see it. i think the real problem is going over 100 pt spread. if someone wins 85-22 it doesnt raise quite as much fuss.dont know why? Its all about perception. If we were at an academic all american bowl and one team was killing the competition, nothing would be said about sportsmanship. The losers would go home and prepare better next time.
longball24
Guys dont be to harsh on Goodrich. Chester has chosen this path.It is no longer about the kids. It is about saving the few jobs that are left at the school. No one wants to admit it is detremental to the school, town ,and kids, to operate like this.
