Concerning Vidor's football schedule as part of this discussion was about it, the fact is that a lot of teams would not give us a home and away, not that he wanted to play weaker teams. Jeff had to pick teams that would play us and COME TO VIDOR which used to be an issue. Texarkana Texas High is a state playoff caliber team that accepted the slot vacated by another school. I think the quality of teams in preseason is picking up especially adding Clear Brook and Santa Fe; I like seeing us get out of the area. We have a quality football program and community which we need to showcase outside of the Golden Triangle. Jeff will always play BC because he is an alum and wants that smackdown. Besides, they always put a good team on the field with the type of offense we face in 20-4A. Jeff Mathews and his staff have done more for Vidor in the last ten years than anyone else I can think of in the last fifty....and I'm a lifelong Vidorian. GO PIRATES!!!

Great post.

I also am very happy that he finally went above our class level. I think its been like 4 or 5 years since we scheduled a 5A school. I'd love to see how we fare against them next year. And BC is always fun since they are right down the road and that makes for a great game and the fact that they run the offense that most of our district runs.
