I was just referring to all the talent that will be playing college ball from Memorial and that apparently Lamar could not find the time to make a 20 minute trip down the road to check it out.  Just kind of makes me wonder.  I’m sure I’m not the only one.

You're right Holmes is going to turn down Arkansas, Seales was going to turn down Oklahoma State,  Singleton was going to turn down Baylor and Armstead is going to say no to Baylor.

Honestly, those are the only ones I wish Lamar signed as most of the other PA signees were to juco's, Morgan State and Alcorn State.

I haven't been a hard-core supporter of Coach Ray Woodard but Lamar signed a great class and hired a great O-line and special teams coach in McKnight who played in the NFL 12 seasons and has coached at the FBS level.

He is soooooo slowwwwwwwwwwwwww that AIR FORCE picked him up.  AIR FORCE must be loading up on slow players to go up against NOTRE DAME next year. ;)

[/quote]yes...although you mentioned the least desirable schools to try to make your point...each of the schools mentioned ARE better options for specific students...i won't go into detail, but each have something that lamar doesn't, that certain kids want. plus, some kids just want to move away. i think the kids he got from this area are typical of the kids lamar will continue to attract.

I heard he was too slow to play linebacker.  I don't know if Lamar recruited him or not.  Look, I've been pretty hard on the coaches for crappy play calling and some games where it look like we were clearly outcoached.  BUT, anyone that thinks they are so stupid that they wouldn't try to recruit local players is a damn idiot.  What does he have to gain by NOT recruiting local players that have the ability to help LU win?  It makes no damn sense.  I remember back in the 80's people used to say the same thing.  Then you'd go look at the facts (the number of local players on our roster and you'd see that there were a bunch.  Around half, just like now.  And, hell, we don't count Houston and Conroe and Montgomery as local?  Damn near everyone on our roster is from Texas.  People need to get back to bitching about what they should be bitching about.  Crappy play calling and not playing the right players.  GO BIG RED!!!

Sidenote, this looks like a pretty good class.  However, I think for us to get to the top of the SLC we need to be able to control the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball.  So, I hope our o-line and d-line make great strides in the off season.

LU is not going to get a guy from this area if they are recruited by a team from the major conferences. They just can't compete with that. If the numbeers are correct from an earlier post, LU has about 40-45% of it's roster made up of local players. That souds like about the right make up. I know there are some on here that think LU should have 100% from SE Texas, well if they do that then they won't be good, ever. Look at your plyoff and state championship teams. Most reside in East Texas and the Metroplex. Those are the two areas I think he needs to concentrate on. I'm not saying there aren't good quality players here, just not as many as there used to be. This is his third class, If they don't improve within the nexr two years, then it'll be someone else's turn.

As for Wilson; that is a snob/snot family.  I'm sure he was too good to even consider going to Lamar in their eyes.
