stevenash
A number of people have already crowned them as 3-a champs for the next ten years. When those ten championships take place, they will be congratulated for having done so with fewer move ins than in the past.
BLUEDOVE3
HJ, it was a good run while it lasted. Been saying on this list Yates was probably dropping down. Wheatley's pride and tradition probably kept them opted up.

Honest Abe
Their ability to [s]recruit[/s] err, convince kids to transfer will diminish IMO, bc some kids may view 3A as a 'smaller stage' which could limit their college opportunities. CATMAN
Will Silsbee or HJ have to play Yates before the reg.tour. next year.

Its the games out of district where they will shine and get students to move-in to their district
BADSANTA
Wow! Good luck to the rest of Region 3 3A schools. Silsbee and HJ need to join forces now! Lol

AggiesAreWe
Yates turned in 1000 for their enrollment. Missed staying in 4A by 5 students (bottom for 4A was 1005). Yates is the largest 3A in the state with the 1000 enrollment. Stephenville and Kaufman are 2nd and 3rd with 999 and 998.Just did not think their numbers would have dropped over 200 and also didn't think Wise and admins would allow them to drop (ego). setxbbfan
Have to disagree with most. I saw Yates twice this year. Good? Yea. Like the last few years? No. HJ played Wheatly(A few years ago) when they were at the top of their game and stepped up to that level. The Yates of yesterday is gone. Having said that-they will still be very good. SIlsbee and HJ represent the best in 3A. Maybe a couple others as well. Yates will be right their with them-possibly one step above. Point is-Yates in not an automatic in 3A. BLUEDOVE3
Yates is an automatic over southeast texas ;)
setxbbfan
Blue -u r right more than you are wrong. However-I don't see the automatic. The line between HJ/Silsbee and Yates will be somewhat thin. I do give yates an edge-but automatic -no way.

bullets13
yup. not too many small town schools are going to appreciate them bending rules in order to field college teams in 3A basketball...
setxbbfan
Yates will have an edge on the mental toughness (not much-bc the Silsbee and HJ kids are pretty tough) due to their extensive nation wide travel.
BLUEDOVE3
FELLAS, Yates follow the rules. Don't believe all the hype from the media and rumors. They know people watch their program.

BADSANTA
Someone told me a few years back Yates was having issues with staying open due to test scores. In the 80's they were 5A, 00's 4A, and now 3A. Look out 2A!

setxbbfan
I agree-I'm asking can coach Wise hang with Sutherland and Siglar. I have seen them play many times. The very few times he had to make adjustments-he struggled.
