Lamoine looked good in his 1 inning with 4k's.  90+ on the FB on his 6'4" frame will get pro scouts attention.

Brett Brown went 1.2 striking out all 5 batters.  His curve is one of the best I've seen.  Both aces look to be in midseason form.

score?

It's 3-1 Ned in the 5th or 6th.  A lot of walks maybe 3 hits combined.  These bats make a HUGE difference.

Are they having to use a different kind of bats or something?

Yes, they have to use BBCOR bats this year which are supposed to mimic wood bats.  They used them in college last year and the offensive numbers dropped dramatically.  Look for lots of small ball this year and not many homeruns.

It was 4-1 Nederland when I left.  Both teams will be solid, just a little rusty.  I wouldnt want to be in Coach Robbins shoes, he has some tough decisions to make with that roster.  They have some very good ball players that won't make the starting lineup.

What inning?
[/quote]

It was around the 7th when I left.  The scoreboard was off so I'm guessing.

BC gonna run away with this one.

You might want to retract that statement.

He has the best curveball in the area. Hands Down

This is simple.  Put the best 9 players on the field.  Players who hit and solid in the field should play, whether or not who they are.

Other schools may take leftovers from Big Ned who are not getting their time on field, good is good and the best should play. Silly not to......

I never suggested that they shouldn't put the best 9 on the field, but Nederland has 15 or 16 kids that would start on most teams in the area.  Not a bad problem to have at all, just not that easy to make out a lineup with all of that talent.

That ain't no joke.  I went to our scrimmage against Bryan today, and their was maybe 5 hits between the schools.  I only stayed for 4 innings and it was 1-0 Bryan when I left.  Both of our hits were doubles, while Bryan had 2 singles and a double.  You could see rust on both teams, but I guess that was to be expected.

Sounds like both BC & Nederland are going to be good, as usual.  I Hope to catch a Nederland playoff game this year.

Hitters hit.  Plain and simple.

This will bring the game back to things like bunting, being patient at the plate and the hitters coming up with Big hits.  Definetly, tipped the game back to the pitcher.  Lots of pitcher's duals ahead of us.

I always thought good pitching trumped good hitting to start with.

Not if a team is loaded with hitters who are hitting that good pitching.....

You can't win a game 0-0.

Someone has to score.  If the pitchers are that good, someone has to hit, right?  No BB, no HBP which marks good pitching.

Even good pitchers walk batters or hang a curve ball over the plate every now and then.

The best game I've ever been a part of was LCM-Nederland Regional Final at Lamar in 1997.  Jesse Floyd beat Beau Hale 1-0 on a passed ball to advance us to State.  I didn't think anyone would ever score the way those 2 guys were dealing that night.
