Good Tournament at Vincent-Beck to start the season. Better one the following weekend with Gonzaga and Illinois.

toooooooo cold for baseball!  surprising number of southern schools---usually get the teams, (like illinois) that still have snow on the ground, to fly south in february

The weather in Jonesboro, AR and Portland, OR is pretty frigid for baseball. The only unusual team this weekend is SFA.

I expect this to be our best showing of any tournament this season since it is our easiest. At least we won't play SFA in this tourney. It is weird to have 2 teams from the same conference in  an early season tourney. Glad to see them though. Nederland ex Alex Moshier is their closer at SFA. Here is a cool video of their coach talking about him. They expect big things.

frigid?  it in the 50's in both places..in February

Was just in the low 30's a couple days ago with sleet and snow flurries at Arkansas State. It's 34 in Jonesboro right now. For baseball I would say that's frigid. Portland is 39.

we had a freeze a couple days ago

anything under 70 is too cold for baseball

what I'm saying is usually this time of year, you get the ohio, illinois, michigan teams coming down in droves..the snow shovel states

I was on the field yesterday. Outfield is already bad so much so they haven't been practicing on it. Luckily the most important part of the field is turf. G says they should play just with some slipping and sliding in the the outfield.

Lamar wins 2-1 over Arkansas State after the game was called in the top of the 9th.

Sucks for Arkansas State since they had 2 men on when the game was called.

Saturday's play a wash out. No games being played today and may not be any tomorrow.

Lamar won today 10-2. Jeff Abt had 3 doubles and 4 rbi's. Very good showing today with good pitching, defense, and offense.

Dziedzic went 6 scoreless innings giving up only 3 hits. This team is already more exciting than last year. The transfers look excited to play. Hope the attitude sticks around all year. Next up Gonzaga.

Dziedzic just needs to keep his pitch count down. He has all the talent though.
