You are probably right because anyone with half a brain, regardless of pedigree, knows that reasonable intelligence is a key ingredient to success in high school basketball and that you can't simply run and jump your way to a state title.

Dove, since your kids play here in the "golden triangle", why such joy in the possibility that the path for local teams might be tougher in the future?  Is it because your kids are in 4A now and not 3A?  Do you resent HJ & Silsbee for some reason?  Some sort of loyalty to H-town since you grew up there?  What's the deal?

I'm from the Houston area and played there, but I live here now.  I pull for all the local schools to go as far as possible in the playoffs.  I have no love for teams from the old stomping grounds, because I'm here now.

No one is talking about Navasota as good as they played Silsbee I would worry about them too. I'm sure they want to beat Silsbee but they really want hj bad after hj has beating they what at least 4 times straight in the playoffs, they play like Silsbee but can shoot the 3 a lot better Navasota will be a difficult out as well.

yep, been watching these kids play since 4th and 5th  & 6th grade. I've just started watching local high school just last year, and still learning the players. I'm probably more familiar with Nederland and HJ's players ;)

Sounds complicated to me, knowing your next opponent is not an exact science. Why is the warm up game so important when that particular team may only duplicate one of your potential opponents. I know that game film is not usually available  but a good scouting report goes a long way.  Sometimes folks try to fly to the moon when they only need to go around the block. I am not refering to what Coach Sigler has decided to do with his team but the explanation of it. I think the idea of Silsbee getting to travel to nice facility and play an admiral opponent is a good enough reason, without, the word duplicate being used, the kids earned it. I hope they win, bond, eat good, have no injuries, make some memories and most importantly get back home safely.  One warm up game is not going to make a fraction of a difference on the Tigers road to Austin.  My opinion, I think a 30 plus game season prepares teams for this time of the year.

Trust me, had Pleasant Grove not be a quality opponent with a very good post player, Silsbee does not make this trip to Tenaha. That comes from the coaching staff.

They played in the HJ tournament last year i think and they werent bad...not sure how they are this year but i do remember some pretty good underclassmen

I have seen Pleasant Grove play 2 games this season. (in Sherman Tourney). They are a good team. 27-1, ranked #15 in 3A state poll. It will be a good test for Silsbee.
