Lazeek Posted February 18, 2012 Author Report Posted February 18, 2012 I am still trying to figure out how this is a "weak schedule"Kountze (26-8 1st Place District)Nederland (27-7 Co-Champs with Central)Beaumont Central (21-9 Co-Champs with Nederland)Port Lavaca Calhoun (28-4 1st Place District--Ranked as high as #21)Corpus Christi Calallen (14-15 2nd Place Behind CC Ray)Kingwood Park (24-11 2nd Place District Behind Humble)Jacksonville (24-8 2nd Place District Behind Tyler)LC-M (4 Times) (19-15 4th Place District)Silsbee (2 Times) (23-7 Co-Champs with HJ) 3A #5 Ranked TeamIs it as strong as some teams, no!!! But it is far from weak!!!! 12-1 in those 13 games. Only loss at Silsbee by 3 points. There are no more or no less weak teams on HJ's schedule than anyone else's!!!! No world beaters on there either!!! But non-district wins over good solid 4A teams and a solid 2A team in Kountze.

Some feel the need to find a way to discredit a situation that they resent or envy, particularly if it is exceeding expectations. If you can't attack the won-loss record, the schedule is the next logical step. If for some reason that fails, then, even though it is quite a bit less credible, you will hear things like " the refs give them preferential treatment", or "their old coach is in the UIL" yadda, yadda, yadda. Bottom line is, if you are winning, you will always face some detractors and nothing can be done about that.

As far as the schedule goes, you can really only play the teams locally, for the most part, unless its an out of town tournament, and being that HJ was probably one of the top areas teams, they just have to play whoever they can get to line up in front of them...36-1 is hard to argue against.

Funny thing is, if you beat all of the other teams who "allegedly (yes, allegedly) played a tougher schedule, you effectively beat every team that they beat. As for the Dove, he will always play devils advocate and that is ok with me.
