BADSANTA Posted February 29, 2012 Report Posted February 29, 2012 Who you got! I hear they are darn good!
FanintheStands Posted February 29, 2012 Report Posted February 29, 2012 I heard Silsbee is darn good! ;) Tigers win a squeaker.
BigDaddy00 Posted February 29, 2012 Report Posted February 29, 2012 Gonna be alot of talent in Huntsville this weekend with 3 of the top 5 ranked teams gonna be there
ST413 Posted February 29, 2012 Report Posted February 29, 2012 I don't know anything about Athens, except for them getting their star back recently. From looking at the score tonight, it appears they play a deliberate game. If the Tigers get to running it could be a long night for them. If that is their style and its a slow game, it could be interesting.
PoppaBearstarr Posted February 29, 2012 Report Posted February 29, 2012 Athens is quick from what I have seem, I dont think Silsbee will have a big speed advantage on this team but you should have one in your depth...this will be an interesting game....I dont think the press will bother them.
ST413 Posted February 29, 2012 Report Posted February 29, 2012 There has been a lot of talk on strength of schedules this year. The Tigers schedule was tough and they have 4 wins over teams that are still alive in the regionals this weekend: 4A Ozen, 3A Pleasant Grove and H-J and 2A Kountze. Hopefully these will have helped the Tigers to pick up a couple more wins this weekend!
BigDaddy00 Posted February 29, 2012 Report Posted February 29, 2012 Found out Athens was runner up in there district and Brownsboro won that district and they were defeated by Waco Connally in the area round.. And Connally lost tonight 70-31 to Waco La Vega .. just a few interesting things to point out.
ST413 Posted February 29, 2012 Report Posted February 29, 2012 They did score just over 70 in each of their first two playoff games so it may have been Fairfield slowing the game down.

Kountzer Posted February 29, 2012 Report Posted February 29, 2012 Athens vs. Silsbee, my, my. Two of my favorite town going at it head to head. I love Athens. I've been there a few times. My church conference owns a spot of land there, and we going there and have church camp meetings every summer. Beautiful area, hard water and all. Several lakes, lots of fishing, you name it.Silsbee is home though. Blood is thicker than turnip juice, lol. Go Tigers! I won't be at the game though. I plan to observe the sabbath, being I am a Seventh Day Adventist christian. They had a big write up on the sabbath in the Houston Chronicle, as it relates to the playoffs. Check it out.
Kountzer Posted February 29, 2012 Report Posted February 29, 2012 I am mindful of the sabbath every year when they have the regional tournament, which I don't attend for this reason. It is not that big of a deal for me, I'm just bringing it to attention.http://www.chron.com/default/article/Beren-Academy-prepares-for-game-it-can-t-play-3368876.php
MBaller#1 Posted February 29, 2012 Report Posted February 29, 2012 I talked to coach SIG last night after the game and he said he was very familiar with Athens he knows how they play and what they like to do. He said when he coached at Clarksville that Athens beat his team in 2 overtimes, and his team beat them in a later game so I'm sure coach SIG has big plans for Athens. Good luck tigers just win.

Saw Athens play about a week ago. They have speed and like to push the ball. Decent shooters........Should be two great ball games Friday. Looking forward to watching both games.......

BADSANTA Posted February 29, 2012 Author Report Posted February 29, 2012 I haven't seen Athens play but I heard they are a handle full and would have been a top 10 ranked team if their best player was healthy. I think Silsbee will need to come out and be very aggresisive on defense to win this game. Silsbee by 3
no-look Posted March 1, 2012 Report Posted March 1, 2012 I want Silsbee to win this one but I want it to be at the buzzer.....I fully expect to be entertained... ;D
